A very long and hard 16 months after we lost our second little girl at full term, LittleMashinBenzin3 - a boy - arrived last Thursday evening and he came home yesterday. We are now a family of four as always planned - overjoyed! thanks to everyone here for the many kind words over that time.

The Toyota performed hospital duties with aplomb as always and the Disco waited at home, ready to finally take up the duties it was acquired for. Took it to Waitrose yesterday and it celebrated as only a Land Rover can, with a 2 foot crack in the windscreen developed from a chip. Who cares though, bigger fish are frying.

The best news (not the windscreen crack, LMB3!). Congrats and enjoy the time with him.

Congratulations on the new arrival, and sorry to hear about the struggles getting there.

At least the windscreen is not an electrical fault, and therefore has a chance of being fixed

Well you say that, but the windscreen coming out will mean the heating elements need to be reconnected and the camera/sensors in the module on the windscreen. Chances of that little lot continuing to perform to spec?

That's great news MashinBenzin, congratulations to all four of you!

As to the windscreen, check the rain sensing wipers work before leaving the dealership! My Dad's Evoque is a lovely car but reliable it is not, although it's getting better with age. He took it in to get a water leak resolved from the top of the windscreen (I suspect it's been there a while and has just looked like condensation drips) and when he got it back the heating element and rain sensor side of things wasn't working (the rain sensor uses the heating elements to measure resistance, rather than the BMW optical system). Not that any of it really matters when you've got a new baby to look after but probably less hassle to check while you're still in the dealership!

I had to have the windscreen replaced on the 5 less than a month after getting it due to similar crack. It was done by autoglass under insurance, and no problem with the cameras or heads up. I'm sure yours will be fine

Congratulations to family Benzine - a great ending to a painful journey.

Turn off the computers for a few days and enjoy the glow of settling the little fella into his new home

Congratulations! I know it’s been tough for you guys, one of the benefits (and sometimes negatives) of lockdown and home working is dad time is loads more than it normally is. It’ll be great for building that bond. Enjoy!

Congrats on the new arrival - great to hear positive news about new life coming into this world, albeit at a very odd time, but he’ll be none the wiser at the moment 😂
