Alright so I have been thinking about this lately. The NEW or USED car topic. Each obviously have there pros and cons but how do YOU guys weigh them? Here are some examples...

Here are three examples of what you can get for $25,000 or so:

2008 VW GTI 6 speed 200hp/207tq 0-60mph: 7.2 Sec 1/4 mi: 14.8-15.1 sec



2009 Subaru WRX 5 speed 265hp/244tq 0-60mph: 5.1 Sec?



2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata 6 speed 166hp/140tq

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR 6 speed 286hp/289tq 0-60: 4.7 Sec 1/4 Mi: 12.9 Sec

What is the problem? I just don't get it?

Dibs on WRX....it's improved alot compared to the 08' model .......bigger turbo's, better suspensions, better shifter.....! You have to check it out. I dont like the design but SUbaru's were never pretty.

And Evo IX aint bad either. Great potential of a tune.

first,i dont like used cars,becase i dont want my driver seat someone farted before me!
i wont choose any of this cars,go for new e92 with less powerfull engine.

For $25,000? You are willing to take that depreciation hit because of seat fart?

Interesting thread. I am actually considering the the GTI and WRX as my next car along with the Camaro SS, however I don't know which route to take. The performance of the 09 WRX vs 08 is night and day, yet its butt ass ugly. I dont mind the look of the GTI, but its as slow as my old 1993 Ford Probe GT. I like the Camaro SS but with all the options I want on it it will cost 10K more than the other cars...its gonna be a long decision.

How can two people with different back grounds and political views own the same type of vehicle.

I had a white 1993 Probe GT many many years ago. That 2.5L V6 wasn't incredilbly powerful but did pull smoothly.

To the OP and IMO, I would take the M3.

Warranty is probably the prominent matter. Design would probably come second with the new car smell following up.

bottom line car buying is a loss. save your money for mods and buy used, i know you can find what you want by looking around. i drove 6 hours for my car, red is hard to find in manual.

it was a private sale, i first went to check out car and verify warranty, and warranty history of work, and went back the next weekend with loan check.

I think that many would agree that spending $10,000 more to have a seat that wasn't farted in was stupid. How about this idea? BUY A BRAND NEW DRIVERS SEAT?! And save about $9,000 bucks. Viola!
