HOUSTON—Police believe street racing is to blame for a fatal crash in northwest Harris County.

According to deputies, two teenage boys and a 74-year-old woman were killed just after 2 p.m. Friday on FM 1960 near Kuykendahl.

Investigators said the teens, who were students at Klein Forest High School, were racing in a gold Nissan 350Z with another car in the eastbound lanes when they lost control, swerved into the westbound lanes and were broadsided by the woman.

“(The driver) was traveling well over the speed limit and could not control that vehicle. He lost control and caused the death of himself, his passenger, as well as an elderly female,” Lt. Darryl Coleman said.

Two students at Klein Forest High School and a 74-year-old woman were killed in the crash.

The force of the crash was stunning. Debris was scattered 100 yards from the point of impact. An engine from the Nissan was thrown 50 feet.

“It makes you feel sick. It makes you feel like I’m glad I took a little bit longer in the store because it could have been me. I was just coming the same way,” witness Adrian Mynatt said.

Witnesses and police agreed the young driver was at fault.

“I was a little frantic, I’ve got to admit, because that was an extremely serious accident. You could tell that more than likely there were not going to be any survivors,” witness Les Tollett said.

Witnesses were able to give deputies information about the other car involved. Deputies tracked down that driver and brought him back to the scene for questioning.

Investigators said the surviving driver is a male in his late teens to early 20s.
They were forced to close a portion of FM 1960 to investigate, backing up traffic for miles.

I don't mind when idiots kill themselves, it's when they kill innocent others that I start having a problem.

I remember reading on 350Z-tech.com that the 350Z was the 9th most expensive car to ensure in this country... because this is a relatively affordable sports car.

Just like stupid Nick Bollea

Yeah, but he was driving a 800hp Supra I thought. I cannot believe he got away with that shit. Being in jail for a few months while your "friend" is now paralyzed...

US laws are particularly lenient towards vehicle related criminal offenses. Totally not surprising. I was actually surprised when he was sentenced.

I did my fair share of stupid shit as a teenager. Looking back I can see how lucky I am nothing serious happened to me, or worse, someone else. Drive safe and just pay attention out there, I don't want to read about any fellow E90 posters being involved in crap like this.

He was... I was just mentioning that there are too many stupid kids (and even their parents) with high hp cars and little to no experience on how to handle one. Good thing I started driving in a slow, used, automatic.

This is even more surprising for Nick since he was starting a career in drifting

This poor guy made a mistake and it costed him his life. Yeah he's to blame but that by no means validates his death, let alone makes it good.

You guys are horrible.

street racing really is just plain stupid. i get kids on the street that try to race me all the time, but i never bite. in fact, i had a close call recently that further reinforced my opinion on street racing. the consequences aren't worth the risk...both judicially and risking the lives of others. plus, you never know how good or bad of a driver the other person is. be careful out there people
