Max weight in trunk?

On a 340 what the most weight you would put in trunk before worrying about bottoming out? Stock non sport suspension btw

I guess first question is...what are you planning on hauling?

Unless it's full of rock or blocks of iron, I can't really imagine anything you could put in your trunk that would make it bottom out.

You can carry a lot! You might put some on your back seat too.

But, iirc, the max carrying load is over 1000 lbs...figure the 4 passengers weigh 6-700 lbs, you'd have room for 3-400 lbs in the trunk...or 8 bags of sand, give or take, but I'd think only 6 might fit at a time anyway.

Presumably you're not going too far or too fast, but I'm sure you could.

When I go camping I load the back of my touring with about 300 lbs of stuff and it handles it fine.

Trunk is different than back seat due to the angles of leverage, but still, 300# in the trunk should be fine.

I imagine you’re also planning to fold the rear seat forward, put down a drop cloth, and place some bags forward of the rear axle. This will keep the center of gravity from moving too far back.

No.... you are confused. The 3-series trunk is too small. Now if you are talking a Ford Crown Victoria, that is the measure of capacity.

I haul 5 40lb bags of salt all the time and hardly notice it. If I was hauling more I’d probably fold down the rear seats and place them more forward as someone above mentioned.

Your door sticker where it has the tire pressures should have the max weight (and associated tire pressures). Subtract about 3700lbs for the basic car’s weight from the listed GVWR and that’s how much you can load up, spread out in a reasonable way.

Owners manual says the vehicle load limit (combined occupants+cargo) should be noted on placard.

It's literally something I never even thought about for any car I have ever owned.

You don't know how big those prostitutes are. Who are you to assume his prostitute preferences?
