cdn. 323i
I have seen many e90 323i on the road lately and I just don't get the concept behind in buying this vehicle. It has virtually nothing but a bmw badge. If people are buying a e90, why not atleast get a 325i where more things are standard?
You guys should check out the rims of the 323i, it's really pathetic. http://brianjessel.bmw.ca/en/pub/pro...modelname=323i The car is nothing luxury but a car with a badge. Many people who opt for a 323i don't care for options so i dunno why bmw would have this model here in canada. It makes the 330i owners here driving around look like its a cheap vehicle unless they see the # badge. When i see a 323i with those ugly rims on the wheels, it really annoys me. |

I do agree that the rims do not look attractive at all.. But the 323i is nevertheless an E90 with more or less the same excellent chassis and design as the 325i/330i. Some people just could care less about options and all they want is a BMW at a 'economical' price. The 323i also have 'enough' power for city driving and occasional highway driving as said by some other forum members though I never drove the 323i before.
In Europe you can actually get even lower spec'd E90. 316i, 318i with steel rims and almost no options at all. |

Those wheels are 16" and they look a bit like M68's with some phat lip.
Its better than the standard steel rims and wheel covers on the E46 320i. The E90 323i has a 2.5L inline six 174hp and its still a very fun car with the 6 speed manual. The only downside is that they cannot be ordered with xenons. Other than that I would not mind one at all! |

I've ordered the 323 in HK but I've got to admit those rims for the canadian market are a disgrace.
HK treats the 323 a bit better. Most options are available, just show the dealer the money. And I chose the 323 for reasons mentioned in this thread. It's no slouch and you may be surprised with it, given the amount of savings you get over the 325. One could hardly tell the difference with the 325 on day to day driving. |

For a 330i you're paying $20k more after taxes then a 323i and people may get confused between the two unless the avg. people are really into cars. This really sucks! Say if you got like a g35 coupe, there's no confusion there. When you got it for $55k people will know for sure you got it for $55k. |

There is nothing wrong with the 323i. Not everyone would want to spend the bucks for 325i. The 323i has a smooth i6 engine, great handling, and the same safety features. For many people the extra bucks can go towards unnecessary things, such as rent / mortgage, child care, etc. BTW, 323i is still over $30k CDN. It is not "cheap". Not everyone is a millionaire.

people who diss the lower-end models are the true badge whores, in your eyes, only the number on the rear end of the car determine it's 'worthiness' to you, how pathetic.
Like Fleet said, there's nothing wrong with a 323, or a 316, 318, 320 in other markets, they still have the driving dynamics of a BMW, just because it has less horsepower and torque and less equipments, doesn't make them "lesser" cars. |

And so you don't get too cocky in your infinite knowledge, my dad has a 5-speed manual E46 330i and it isn't that much faster than my 6-speed car in a straight line and mine handles better. |

Even better: Why not just leave the window sticker on? That way people would know for certain you ponied up the extra $$$. While you're at it, leave the price tags on your clothes too.

I agree with tonee8519 the 323 makes the BMW image less upscale. A lot people can't tell difference between the 323 and 330 so they assume that a E90 cost $35,000. I believe if you are going to buy the 323 might as well buy an Acura or an infinity. If you are going to buy a BMW then youy should pay the extra money and buy at least a 325i. Furthermore, you absolutly need 17" rims on the E90.

You know ever since I began checking out this site I have noticed one main theme. People on this site are very very very touchy. The second somebody voices an opinion that differs from somebody else's, the nastiness begins. The name calling is especially bad. And the topic does not matter it's always the same reaction. Guys grow up, and please do us all a favour and stay the hell away from this site if you are not mature enough to respect the opinion of somebody else. The anonymity of the internet does not give you the right to be rude. Would you speak to somebody this way in person? If you do i feel sorry for people that know you. Epiphone3 YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Canucklion YOU ARE A WHORE. Doesn't feel good does it? Keep the conversation on cars, and respect others. PERIOD. And most of all grow the fuck up! BTW why doesn't it surprise me that the two nasty posters above are Canadian? I've lived in the US and Europe and despite the "Nice Canadian' stereotype it is so not true. Very miserable people. (my opinion respect it) |

325er I agree with you 100%, people on this forum do not accept criticism. I started a tread regarding the fact that I wasn't to crazy about the interior of the E90 and everybody (well almost everybody) got insulted. If we buy a BMW is because we like it but obviously there are always certain elements that we like less. Everybody is entitled to their opinions. |

I think 323i is completely acceptable since its affordable and not everyone can afford the top models. I personally wouldn't get it but it doesn' mean that it's a bad car. And I don't believe it's a good idea to buy a loaded Acura or Infiniti because they are completely different cars. Those cars might have more gadgets but it doesn't have the BMW handling/comfort.
