Using XM Radio in 2005 X5 3.0

Hi! I'm new here! My husband just got me a 2005 X5 (only 30 thousand miles on it!) after the birth of our daughter.

Great guy! Anyway, I absolutely love it. My old vehicle had XM radio, which I loved, and now miss.

I thought about getting a stand alone satellite radio for my X5 (I don't want to rip up the dash). Wondering if anyone has XM like this and how well it works. I would be using it through the FM and just putting the antenae on the very front of the dash near the window.

I have an ´05 X5 4.4, with premium sound option, which I had a BMW dealer retrofit with a BMW XM unit. Prior to this I´d never had sat radio. I love it, and would not buy a new BMW without it.
