4G TL vs 335xi
Being a former Acura TL owner, I browse the Acura forums here and there to see whats the latest.
I came across this tread which I found to be extremely hilarious. Enjoy! http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=693741 Hope this doesn't turn into a e90post vs Acurazine forum war.

The review was vaguely factual really. Aside from the steering, which I agreed with, the rest was nothing but opinion. The looks, interior, and comfort is all subjective. I personally think he shot himself in the foot with the "hey look our Acura is cheaper" because you can turn around and get a Honda for loads cheaper for essentially the same stuff (for the most part).
I've always liked Acura TLs because they always looked great and had a sporty feel. However, their new "beak" or "one tooth" design is nothing short of ugly. |

The previous TL was the highpoint of TL design inmho. The current one is a low point The rest of the car is Ok but simply univolving and uninteresting to drive. Acura's call to arms has always been "though shall not pay a lot for this muffler", to paraphrase a fameous tag-line.

I like Acuras, but they'd do better to compare to vehicles more in line with them.
There is no doubt it's a value, though, and for most, that'll be the bottom line. Also, no way he's comparing an '09. The initial picture showed the pre-LCI e90. Oh, and if he drove a 335xi LCI a "few weeks ago" he must have been at a press event. -N

I like acuras... but to go ahead and say that TL is a better car than a 335.... thats just going over board...
Stiffer steering wheel.... stiffer seat..... umm.. but then again, there are more soccer moms driving the TL than 335? Anyhow, what a waste of my 5 minutes!

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the video is exactly 3:30 long?

I went to the dealership website he works for which is like 10 miles away from my house, Hillside Honda (www.hillsidehonda.com) and searched the preowned inventory. Low and behold, not a single BMW is there. HAHA!

I loved my 2006 TL with NAVI, it felt great to drive, however, it was front wheel drive and in my opinion, a true driver's car should be rear wheel drive, the newly designed TL is hidious...the 17 inch wheels look "overwhelmed" and the "overbite" front grille and the old Acura CL styled rear are horrible...however, the interior is nice as well as the technology....I feel the exterior looks similar to the new Lexus GS series, and maybe that's the demographic they're going after...the new TL has lost it's sportiness that was found in my model TL...it has become a luxo cruiser...Hail BMW for sticking with what works and refining it over the years...Porsche has done the same with the 911..."don't fix it if it ain't broke" just refine it and keep making it better...The Japs could learn a thing or two from that philosophy....

TSX is the Euro version Accord, so by definition, it's a mid-size sedan and the natural competitor in the class would be E60

I drove a last style TL of my friends while waiting for my car for a month. I liked the looks, but I felt it had too much power for a front wheel drive car. It pulled all over the place and torque steered horribly. It was a 6 spd. Hopefully the new generation with the AWD will drive/behave better.

I almost choked when people claimed the ergonomics of the TL were better than the 3 series. I checked one out a few months back. How do you find anything with that many buttons? And almost every one uses english text - very few use icons.

I think he was actually referring to the size of vehicles...the TL is more inline with a 5 series and Lexus GS series than the E90 Bimmer...I should know I just got out of my 2006 TL and bought an E90...the TL is quite larger than my E90..and I test drove quite a number of 545s...

I prefer the Acura ergonomics myself. Little things - like there being a sunglass holder near the sunroof controls, or a little bin to hold your wallet near the gas pedal. To me, everything just feels like it is in the right place. I agree that there are a lot of buttons. But, my new E91 has buttons galore too. Count the buttons around the Idrive, the preset buttons, and the A/C radio control buttons, and I bet it does not fall far short of the TL's cabin. Not a big issue, but I see the point. I can see that perspective. I just don't buy those who thought the TL was on par with a 3-series in terms of driving dynamics (a suggestion which, frankly, I find kind kind of ridiculous).

the only complaint about e9x ergo is the cup holders... my cup holder has been jammed for 4+ months... until my next oil change at the dealer. =(

I guess it's really subjective. If you like to driving satisfaction first and like high tech gear second then the BMW is your car. If you like high tech gizmos first, before driving satisfaction...then the Acura is your car. |

Personally, I'm going to reserve judgment until I get a chance to really drive a new TL with SH-AWD and manual transmission. The torque vectoring of the SH-AWD system is very cool tech and could make the new TL a very good drive despite its weight (think EVO X)
