Is new car order deposit refundable?

For some reasons, I may have to cancel the order. Currently, the dealer doesn't have the allocations, so I don't have production number yet.

Put $1k deposit down about 3 weeks ago.

Thanks

Absolutely it's refundable, if you made the decision just call the dealership and ask for a refund,
I placed my order in late August and my dealership asked for 1k deposit and I didn't agree on it, they started to say bla bla bla, but I insisted on not paying the deposit, and they agreed,
Generally always try not to pay the deposit specially for car,

They usually say it is non-refundable, but in your case I think you have a valid case to demand the deposit back because the dealer does not have an allocation and you don't have a production number yet. Some other members on here have gotten their orders submitted, vehicle built, and taken delivery since you put your deposit down.

This is just my opinion.

You're location says you're in the bay area. CA law requires deposit to be fully refundable for any and all reasons.
(That's why some large dealers don't even bother taking deposits).

So you should have no issues getting a full refund from the dealer.

If you dont even have an allocation yet then it should absolutely be refundable.
