fuel regulator replacement question

So the fuel pressure regulator has cracks all over the top of the housing, and i tried to replace it today but the tool ended up breaking??? I was like wtf, so I have no clue what tool to use now.

- Tool i used
https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c...ol/pfm0/w80668

I expected it to be reliable since it was steel but the screw just ended up breaking from torque when trying to remove one of the fuel rings Any better versions that y’all have tried?

I also noticed tons of sparking when i removed my negative terminal anyone can tell me what could cause it?

This is the tool I used. It was part of the tool loner program and was free once I returned it.

Mines is leaking gas because it’s cracked at the top, so it’s losing pressure making it idle rough and crank long.

Btw don’t ignore the regulator if it’s failing because you’ll be stranded

That means there was something still drawing power when you disconnected the battery. If you believe that everything was off, then you could have a parasitic drain somewhere.

Spray WD-40 around the ring, then get a brass drift punch (or a stem of an old faucet that is brass which is what I had at hand) and a hammer. Hammer the brass on the ring to make it rotate. If WD-40 doesn't work well, try next penetrating oil like PB Blaster or what not.

I did leave around 3 doors open and all the lights would be on if the doors are open, so i’m guessing it’s that…
