X5 45e real life maximum range
Hi folks,
I'm in the market for a 45e. Could you please tell what's your maximum range per fuel tank and 100% battery life combined? If I can drive the car for 900+ miles per fuel tank, I will be very happy. Thanks in advance.

However, if most of your daily drive is on electric and you charge everyday, yes you can easily go 900 miles without filling up. |

I have gone over 500-miles starting with a full tank and battery where I was able to get onto the interstate and essentially just cruise. Your battery range also will depend on how cold out it is, as all heating comes from the battery, and cold does limit how much you can get from it.

Toyota got a bit over 800-miles on their stock FCEV earlier this year, but most people would not drive it like they had to to achieve that number.
The 45e weighs a bit over 5600# before you put anyone in it...that takes some energy to get up to speed and throw a hill or two in there, regeneration is never 100% efficient. |

Random note here but just ran into an 45e owner at the gas pump. Told me he only fills up 1/3 of the time compared to his previous 7-8 day gas trips. Loves the car.

We have 2400 miles and have filled up once (full at delivery). Second tank still has 50%. 75% or our miles have been electric.

almost 12 months in with only 4330 total miles where 1200 miles and change were ICE break-in. during that time I did see full tank+electric range under 500 miles

You aren't going to likely see more than 500-miles unless you're on a long trip, and just cruising on a limited access roadway.
THe EPA estimates aren't all that bad...if you're mostly driving local with stop and go, it could be worse, but on an extended trip, it could be better. BMW in-tank fuel pumps don't like to be run dry, so it somewhat depends on how close to empty you feel comfortable to go. Running one dry can start to get expensive if you have to replace the fuel pump, not counting the inconvenience of being stuck somewhere. |

Don't worry, your bladder won't be able to hold any amounts between 400 and 900 in one sitting

If you could get 900 miles, they would shrink the gas tank until range was around 450.
