Car play and no touchscreen?
Has anyone experienced CarPlay in the cars being manufactured without a touchscreen yet?
Specifically wondering whether BMW will enable the touchpad to be used to move the pointer. I was curious about the experience and tried not to touch the screen for a day while using Waze and responding to texts. It was an awful experience but if the touchpad could be used it might be tolerable.

The F8x generations had the iDrive screens positioned further away than the G8x ones.
I used the touchscreen on my M2C a handful times, if that. I had no problems navigating through menus and Carplay options using just the knob. That said, the iDrive7 seems to have far more tabs and menu buttons that makes using the knob a chore. But then again, I've only spent about 45 min in my G82 since delivery w/ 90+% driving the car so I can't say much about it. I definitely need to get used to the new iDrive once I get my car back. |

My M550 has the touch screen and really makes the CarPlay experience flawless. It's amazing what a difference it makes. |

I actually like AA with just the knob. Once you understand how to use it it's pretty fast especially since the touch targets aren't very accurate for some reason.
