22 ALPINA XB7 - Finally took her home

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi everyone,

Just picked up my Alpina XB7 and I have to admit it was a long wait for the car to arrive but it was worth it at the end.

The car was delivered to the dealership 2 weeks ago but it was immediately picked up and brought to a shop close by to get some work done on it.

Thanks to Black Star Distribution in Buffalo Grove, IL and their awesome employees who made a few changes the car now has the look I wanted and it actually turned out better than I expected.

Here are some of the changes and the additions that were made to the car:

- Full chrome black out including badging and also tinting the front and rear BMW roundels.
- Front and rear reflectors were removed and were paint matched.
- 22" Vossen wheels in Gloss Black with Pirelli Scorpions on them for my winter set.
- Full front PPF ( I have to apologize to some folks here because in another thread about PPF I mentioned I wasn't doing any at all but changed my mind at the very last moment).
- Full Ceramic Coating.
- Ceramic Tint on front windows.
- 50% Windshield tint.
- 2 channel BlackVue 4K dash cameras.

Was hesitant to do a light tint on the head lights and the tail lights but I can always do that at a later time.

Adding a few pictures below. Criticism and suggestions are welcome. This is my first BMW and my first car I make exterior changes to.

Congrats, man! I know you've been working on this for some time. And nice pictures.

I would have done the exact same work that you did, starting with the exterior chrome blackout. That's the thing more than any other that made me consider the XB7 less. Was that labor and/or cost intensive to have done?

The rainbow reflection off the front windshield--is that just from the camera? Or does the tint you chose accentuate that effect?

What interior did you go with?

Well done, man.

Thank you Wild Blue,

I have to say that the most expensive of all was the winter wheels / tires set.
The black out wasn't as expensive as I expected but most of the stuff that was done I got quoted on 5 months ago and I know labor and parts got way more expensive recently. Cost for chrome black out was under 2K but I am pretty sure some places would charge over that for sure as it was time and labor consuming.

The rainbow effect I guess it is a reflection but not sure if it is off the windshield itself or the tint as I didn't notice anything all day.

The interior I went with is Tartufo and I am glad I did chose that one over coffee. Adding more pictures now on my first post including interior.

Ughhh,

I guess I will have to do that. Didn't want to do too much to the car as tinting them wasn't a part of the plan initially.

Thank you for the advise!

Beautiful looking car
You have done a great job with the changes especially losing the chrome.
What’s the paint colour?

My wife and I were just looking at alpina green / tartufo that is sitting at knauz. We were discussing the chrome .

Did motorwerks do msrp?

I like what you did.

Thank you,

This was a customer order I placed 5 months ago so they can't charge over MSRP anyway. I got discount from MSRP but it wasn't what it used to be a year or so ago. If you are picking a car from the current inventory they can pretty much ask anything they want for it.

You can try to negotiate the price they have listed and see what happens. Some dealerships would actually lower the price if you are ready to buy and others won't move at all.

Alpina Green is really cool. Good luck.

Awesome that you have B&W. Checked bmw site and not available anymore even on alpina models.

I am keeping the car that way for now. Will decide later on if I want them tinted but for now I am skipping the tint.

Car is stunning, I'm here in Northbrook. Hoping to have my mods done by spring and we can hopefully all meet. There are a few of us.

B&W is awesome. It is so far the best car audio system I have had in my cars. Can't compare with other audio systems BMW is using though since this is my first BMW car.

I was freaking out before my car was built because it was dropped as an option a little before my production date. I would not have accepted the car from the dealership if it came without it.

I do believe they might add the opinion back though. Many people won't even consider buying an Alpina if B&W isn't an option for a car in this price range.

That would be great.

Are you doing the modifications yourself or hiring someone?

Hey bemagrp,

Wanted to also thank you for the fact that a while ago in one of your posts you mentioned to me that Alpina looks best in Alpina color and you were right.

I had my order in Mineral White and I am glad I changed it to Alpina Blue. Your statement was probably the main reason I made the change.

I do all my build installs at A&L/IND with Anthony.

I have a X7 M50i 2021 Mineral on Tartufo.

In motion for GTS tune, black badges, black mirror caps, roof wrap, 22" Gloss black Vossen HF-2, Maxton side skirts, Maxton front lip, renegade rear diffuser. Little bit of work to get it all sourced through spring.

I see,

Sounds like that would be quite a transformation. Would love to see it once done.
