Just Saw a GTR and a ZR1 at the Dealership....
I just saw a GTR and a ZR1 at the dealership. Impressive? Yes. But I just don't know, I really think I would be just fine with the M3 I'm about to order. Looked at the GTR as an M3 alternative, but I stood there thinking it's really a cool car, but I would probably be just as happy w/ the M3. Maybe it's my age. I will say that the GTR is much more impressive in person than in pictures. One other thing the Nissan dealer had it marked up $10k over sticker, yet they were trying to sell me like crazy. Makes me think they would come right back down to sticker if I pulled my checkbook out.
As for the ZR1, I just can't see paying $150k for a Corvette. Just my thoughts. |

I thought that the GT-R looked worse in person than in pictures. I wasn't very impressed, but that might have been because the dealer didn't do that great a job of showing the car.

+1 Looks like an Altima coupe to me. For the bling factor, 99% will know a BMW and most will know what an M3 is. I doubt a GTR will get a second look by anyone except those that think it really is the new Skyline.

FYI, the ZR1 is not $150k, it's only 66% of that price at $100k.
I would probably pick the ZR1 out of those three choices. The GTR does not excite me in any way, which is odd because I've always been a huge Skyline fan. Guess the aesthetics and warranty have to do with that... The E9x M3 is also not too pretty on the eyes and isn't as much of a true M3 to me. I'd rather buy an E30 or E46 model over the E9x, pricing NOT thrown into the equation.

I'm not sure what the point of this thread is. The M3 isn't even in the same class performance wise as the GTR or ZR1. If the money was available, there's really no reason to go with the M3 over the ZR1 or GTR. Both cars trash it performance wise.

Same, but I think the ACR is worth close to if not more than $100K

Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone is out there looking for outright performance. Some want a car that can pull a Jekyll and Hyde. Not saying that's what I'd want (shit, I'd take a ZR1 over pretty much anything), but I'm just saying...

Yeah the M3 is getting to be a better deal with BMW offering 0.9% and now that the ridiculous dealer markups are gone. But if money were no object, the ZR1 and GTR would be obvious choices.

That's what it has to do with it. Look at the American car market right now. Losing their fucking asses begging for goverment assistance. Ford, GM, Dodge, ETC are all dying. There's a reason for that. They make over priced cars nobody wants. |

ZR1 FTW. seriously. for the money its a damn bargain.
then again i wouldnt mind a GTR for 70k. M3 has no comparison with these cars other than the luxury daily driving appeal. |

mark-up is everywhere......i've seen $145k M6 at my dealer before.....
if someone is willing to pay.....why not? supply/demand....every dealer is independently owned...... heck.....even my Fit had a standard $1,995 mark-up....... luckily after a long and treacherous search....i found one at MSRP......
