question: positive battery cable

does anyone know what this split cable from the positive battery wire is for? i noticed it hanging around when i opened up the right rear lighting/battery compartment.

should i be worried?

Same wire, different location. There's a switch that they hang on the mirror from the factory. That switch has wiring running to a connector under the rear seat. That connector runs to the trunk by the battery, and that connects to the battery disconnect. When we PDI the car, we remove the switch from the cabin and the switch from the trunk, but we leave the harness from the rear seat to the battery in tact. So you're just seeing the part of the harness that isn't being used anymore.

Thanks. I recall seeing that wire on my 1st E90 prior to PDI.

It is a device for disconnecting primary circuits in the car in case of an accident.
