For those with dedicated track wheels/tires
how do you get them to the track? Do you drive there with them on? Or do you have a trailer to carry just the wheels? Or do you go even more hard-core and put the whole car up on a trailer?

In my E36 I folded down the rear seats and put the track tires on top of the folded seat backs all wrapped up in old bankets or towels. However for my E92, I'm going to look into the BMW roof bars and have a friend weld me a aluminum wheel holder for the roof. I haven't done that yet.

I've also seen guys driving w/ one tire laying in the trunk and 3 others on the out side of the trunk w/ it open and tied down.... here is something I just found too not a bad idea but I don't want to mount anything permanent to the car, roof rack could be removed easily

I haven't had to deal with a track tire set yet, but I did have to haul my winter tire set to get them mounted. So, I could get one in the trunk, then put the other three set vertically over the folded down seat. Fit just fine and there was still room in the trunk for a jack when I get to that point.
Mines a sedan, so I've got no idea if it'd work in coupe. Probably doesn't hurt that I've got short legs too so the driver seat is way forward. |

Maybe you could ship them greyhound to the vicinity of your track event. It shouldn't be too expensive but would require some planning.

This is the beauty of the M3. You can fit all of your track tires and gear inside. It fit with my e46, and I'm sure it'll fit in the e9x.
I drove across country with suitcases, duffles, computer, briefcase, 2 285 series PSCs and 2 265 series PSCs. |

Although the roof rack idea is interesting, I can totally see myself scratching the roof just trying to put that on. I DO like the WRX's solution, although that looks homemade. There's gotta be some site selling a solution to this, eh?

I looked for a hitch for that reason, but everybody said I was crazy to use an M for that reason.A small open bike trailer does not need much of a tow vehicle to tow properly. But now I have a new F150 work vehicle to use for that and maybe for car hauling for the track.

I have an e90 and 4 265 BFGs that fit on the folded down rear seat. The toolbox, jack, brakebleed, jack stands fit in the trunk, luggage in the front seat.
