Volume of N52 cooling system?

I plan to replace the Mickey Mouse flange and oil filter housing gasket on my e91, and will drain the cooling system beforehand to minimize mess. When I go to re-fill, what is the volume of the system? In other words, how much coolant/water mix do I need?

As others have done here, I just ran the return line into a bucket while the car was running and let about a half gallon fill the bucket. That was enough to do the flange replacement.

Then, the normal refilling and coolant bleeding procedure. My coolant was clean and didn't need replacing however. I just captured and reused it..
