Import an E46 CSL Worth the Money and Effort?
Edit 2:
A used 30k mile CSL in UK is about US$40k, plus $10k for importing (shipping, tax, customs, modification to meet standards, etc.) for a total of $50k. Is it worth it? I've always been intrigued about limited edition cars... and the CSL is truly one of a kind, especially since the E92 CSL is cancelled... What do you guys think? Edit: You can do it... will cost probably around $10k for shipping, tax, customs, modification to meet standards, etc. http://www.usautoparts.net/bmw/bmw/importing.htm OP Just curious, is it possible to buy a used CSL in the US? Does anyone have one? (yes I know it wasn't sold here... but someone must have imported one) Or how can I buy one from europe? Are right-hand-drive cars allowed on US roads? +1 lol...Anyways I don't see why that should be illegal to register one and drive it in the US. If you cant, then how can all those skylines in the US do it? How about the old school RHD mini's? There is a guy that lives right by me that has a R33 skyline that he imported and registered and I see him drive it around a lot. I know he paid a hefty price to be able to do it but he did.
Anyways, my point is if those cars that have never been sold in the U.S. before(until the GTR), can get registered and be driven legally, then why shouldn't a M3 CSL when M3's have been sold here before? |

IIRC, the 33's were crash tested and met the standards. The 34's crash test results were "forged" or something to that effect, and when the Feds found out, they disqualified all the 34's that Motorex imported.
There was one here that can no longer be registered.
