Phones?

I have an older iPhone 7 plus, it works for most of my needs and have had it for 6 years with out breaking the screen. Is the newer iPhone SE a decent replacement? I'd be getting a middle of the road 128G memory as I don't to a tone of crap on the thing.

I would continue with my provider as they have them for $200 buy outright and get my service as needed. Don't like the games all the big providers play with all the hidden fees.

Thanks

Its going to be a big upgrade. If you prefer fingerprint its your only (iphone) option. It wont have the big screen though, but do you really use the size?

Although I have a 12 Pro and love it, we bought my dad a 5SE two years ago. The form factor is about perfect in my large hands. He is a bit tech challenged but can work the phone well. He struggles with the finger print reader, but it is not due to the tech, in my opinion. I would definitely consider the new 5SE, especially because of the form factor and no real loss in capability compared to the larger models.

I went from an iPhone 7 to an SE(v2) because they are the same size and I wanted to keep my case. Plus the SE was the cheapest option. I haven't been disappointed. Very little difference between the 7 and the SE except the SE might have a better camera.

My GF is not a techy person and never wanted to upgrade because she just didn't care, but when her phone started getting flaky on her - I talked her into the SE and she really likes it. Feels about like her old one (I think she went from 6 to SE?), but the extra new features were a huge plus to her. Wireless charging, bio, etc.

She has been thrilled with it. If you don't give a crap about phone specs - it's a great option path that does not cost you $1.5K. She has had hers over a year - no complaints.

Purchased the 5G SE for my mom -- great phone for the price. Getting this version ensures updates for ~ 5 years from Apple. If the form factor is okay with you, it should be a no brainer.

I'll take a walk down to verizon store and play around with it. They have a larger retail store that I can walk to in 15 minutes or less.

If you prefer a smaller form factor, as I do - and you keep your phones as long as you do - I'd strongly consider an iPhone 13 mini. This is the last year of the mini (allegedly) so once gone, we might not see an iPhone this small again. FAR better phone than the SE on every level - OLED display, full 5G support, Face ID, and much larger display on a slightly smaller form factor than the SE, because it's full-screen while the SE has the old LCD display with huge chin. Like it but too expensive? Buy a refurb from Apple - full warranty and always come with new battery and look as new.

3x what a SE costs and that's refurbished.

I have seen the SE in 128G for 200 not on Apple's page.

That has to be either fraud or a subsidized price.

I think it cost me about $200 to upgrade my daughter's SE Gen1 to a 13-Mini from Sprint/T-mobile. My wife and one other daughter have the SE Gen2 and like it just fine. My 12-Mini doesn't seem to have the best battery life, especially if I forget to turn off Wi-Fi when none is available. It gets damn hot while trying to find non-existent Wi-Fi and eats up the battery. Have not heard that complaint from daughter #2 about the 13-Mini.

You're not going to get the 2022 iPhone SE for $200. Maybe the previous gen, but absolutely not the phone that came out a few months ago.

If you do, please share the receipt. At $200 that's worth buying to use as a backup phone when the screen breaks or something.

Its subsidized, you sign a contract with t mobile or whatever. How much is your monthly bill? Its 2022, how do you people not know this stuff? That was the common way it had always been before MNVOs became common.

Nobody is selling a NEW SE or 12mini for $200-250US, that is half Apples price, unencumbered.

JFC you come here asking for advice and lose your mind.

$200 for the CURRENT SE is impossible unless fraud or subsidized. Period. We gave honest opinions on some options and quoted CORRECT pricing. Good luck, you’re obviously going to need it. I’m out.

Sheet, or just buy a bunch and flip them on ebay, clear $75 profit each.

I would suggest this as well. My guess is that going from a 7 Plus to an SE will be a shocking decrease in screen size. My daughter just went from a 5 year old SE to the 13 Mini and is very happy with it.

Look into the website swappa.com
It's a place you can generally find fair pricing on good used phones.
