X45e JUMP START

The owners manual (page 405) says "Do not jump start hybrid vehicle). So how do I get the car started if the battery is low or dead?

My recollection of manual is that it is okay to have the 45e jump started. HOWEVER, BMW says you should not jump start another vehicle with 45e.

It says on Pg. 405 that you can use another vehicle to jump start the 45e.
It also shows the positive and negative jump points on Pg. 384.

My last BMW had a 200A alternator and a HUGE 12vdc battery, over 1000CCA.

The 45e has no alternator per se, and a relatively small 12vdc battery.

So, if your 12vdc battery is not sufficient to start up the 45e, you can jump it, but it just doesn't have the output to handle a dead battery in another vehicle. IOW, the 45e has ample ability to make 12vdc for itself, it's not way over built to jump start another vehicle.

I rechecked again the Owners Manual of my 2022 45e. Page 405 says "Do not jump start hybrid vehicle".

Without context I would say it is referring to the vehicle you are jump starting not your vehicle being jump started. They online version of the manual for the 45e gives the instructions for how to jump start the 45e and no warnings not to.

You're not reading it correctly. On Page 405, it says:

"If the battery is discharged, the engine can be
started using the battery of another vehicle and
two jumper cables. Only use jumper cables with
fully insulated clamp handles.

Vehicles with hybrid drive cannot be used for
jump-starting."

So, your 45e CAN be jump started, but you CANNOT use the 45e to jump start ANOTHER vehicle.

In the OP's defense, my 22 45e manual does have the line "Do not jump-start vehicles with hybrid drive". I do agree with the comments above however and this is clearly poor wording in the manual.

interesting how the wording has changed in the MY22 45e manual. below is what my MY21 45e manual states which is straightforward and clearer to understand

Does this mean do not jump start while in hybrid drive mode, or in general? Weird they would say hybrid drive instead of keeping prior year's wording.

I take it to mean hybrid vehicles in general, not specifically those with a hybrid drive mode.
