I would think so too , but its just really hard to work in a very small area that I assumed its impossible. '

It shortens clutch distance. Gets rid of the extra distance in travel. Same concept as short shifter.

It's a pad that resides behind your clutch pedal, that your clutch arm stops against at full depression.

In the e46, you could install a taller one, making the clutch travel up to 2" shorter. There was dead space on the full depression, which was unneeded.

There is no equivilent on the e90s. It has a clutch stop built onto the back of the pedal arm itself, as seen in this picture (look at item #9):

No... it's for being able to shift faster, and get on the gas faster.

Maybe i'm missing something? (I've only ever driven manuals)

How can it let you shift faster? you don't depress a clutch fully during a moving shift anyway, only when selecting 1st or reverse from stationary.

I would have thought that raising the stop would just make 1st/reverse stressful for the box due to clutch drag.

Read the quote from my previous post. It answered every one of your subsequent questions.

Just glue a rubber block behind your clutch pedal.

Even if there was a clutch stop to be replaced in the E90s it would make no difference as the clutch needs to be depressed fully to the floor in order to start the car. The E46s required a modification to be done in order to use the UUC clutch stop that would trick the clutch sensor switch into thinking the pedal was fully depressed to the floor.

I had aftermarket clutch stops installed on both of the e46's I've owned. Neither needed a modification to the clutch pedal position sensor. It is a great/cheap modification for those cars, as anybody that has installed one can verify. There was far too much clutch pedal travel prior to installing the stop. The bottom 2" of travel was not needed.

I remember when I installed a clutch stop in my e36. Totally changed my driving experience (for the better). Cost like 50 cents to make and just screwed in. Now though, bmw makes things harder.

I guess you were a randomly chosen winner to have your E46s be shipped without the clutch sensor. I know on mine that unless the clutch pedal was depressed fully to the floor the car would not start under any circumstances.

I've also installed them, during tech sessions held at my house, in at least 4 other cars. None of those cars needed modification to the pedal position sensor either. They all had the sensor, but it only activated (wouldn't allow the car to start) at about 1.5" - 2" off the floor.

Seems as though you may be the winner, if yours was sensing the clutch pedal was all the way to the floor, or they changed it for 2004+ cars. All the cars I installed it on were 1999-2003.

Reviving old thread...thinking about getting a clutch stop or a clutch stop like device...

Consensus seems to be that UUC Clutch Stop will not work on the E90...anyone figure out any clever mods/DIY to get around this?

I'm sure there is a way around this. I bet there's a switch located by the pedal so when it is pushed in the switch is out and then knows the clutch is pushed in. Just take the swich off so it thinks that the clutch is pressed in all the time.

I had a clutch stop on my M3. I am one of those that push in the clutch all the way when I shift and the clutch stop made it great to shorten shifts.

I just got an E90 - my previous car was an E36 with the UUC clutch stop - the E90 clutch is driving me crazy! We need to find a solution! Does anyone know the details of the clutch switch?
