After the very unfortunate demise of my 'Audi Q5 55e Vorsprung Competition' a few months ago which was curtisy of a drunk driver hitting me head on, I have been lucky enough to jump straight into brand new X3 following the insurance settlement.
The X3 was probably the quickest car purchase I have ever made. From enquiry to collection the process must have been no more than a few working days. The X3 was cancelled order which had just arrived in stock and I literally had minutes to agree to buy the car as the dealer had a cue of customers. With the world how it is now with shortages of new cars put it this way I would probably have been looking at least 9-12 months for delivery of the same so very fortunate in this respect. Well here she is as photos below and I couldn't be more happier with it. Missing the HUD has been the only small downside and Android Auto integration for now (due to microchip shortages) but no real big issue. The Android Auto I am told should follow on in hopefully a few weeks when BMW roll out some new software. The car itself is a well spec'd G01 X3 xDrive 30 e M Sport LCI 2.0i. Really pleasantly suprised by how stong and quick the engine motors along and even has a nice sound to it. Also treated my self to a new MS-RT van for 'kart weekend transportation purposes' which was delivered last week. The van is an unexpectedly great drive also and looks great imo. |

Looking good, you must be walking around with a permanent grin on your face
The only downside is two new vehicles within a few weeks of each other usually means 2 lots of insurance and tax at the same time Looking forward to the regular updates for both. |

This is how the Audi finished up. The car was subsequently deemed a write off.
I felt lucky to be in such a nice new modern SUV that could take that level of impact and walk away from it to be honest. Also glad it was me and not someone on a motorbike, bike or someone in a much lessor car who would likely have been seriously injured or worse. The cause was a drunk driver apexing a corner and hitting me head on. Happened in a flash and not something I was expecting for sure on a Sunday afternoon off to the local supermarket. The fireman on the scene said to me do you want the 'good or bad' news......? the bad news is we call this dead man's corner down the station and the good news is your are still alive! Congrats lovely looking car!!
Shame about the AUDI, at least in a crash there's a nice heft of engine out front of the axle to take the hit!

The BMW X3 Hybrid doesn't seem to suffer with this issue as far as I can tell so far. |

Nice to see that you avoided the black wheel plague on your new car. I'll be interested to see what you think about the X3 on the motorway when it's windy. I had one as a loaner, an sDrive mind you, and it was a greasy weasel in a crosswind.

Lovely looking vehicle. The power train is 2.0 litre petrol, plus plug
Thanks mate. The salesman reminded me just how lucky I was to be able to jump straight into that. He said put it this way if you ordered the same model today you would would probably be collecting it this time next year. The engine's is fantastic, really pleased with it. |

Shame about the accident, but great that your here to tell the story! Nee car looks great.
You've probably seen my ordeal with my X3m- 10 months wait, and lord knows how the issues with looms etc would impact that now. Having never been an suv guy, bmw really have done amazing work on these current gen x models.

I love mine so a top if the range X3M will be very special indeed. Maybe one day I might jump into one of those but mines a company car so it ticks the boxes at the moment. I took the van down to Clay Pigeon Raceway in Dorchester yesterday for a one day karting event. It was a 300 mile round trip for me from West Sussex. The MS-RT van is an absolutely cracking drive and is so well suited to the motorway. It motors along well and is surprisingly very comfortable to drive. Difficult to describe but it has one of the best steering wheels I think I have ever come accross. I opted for an auto bearing in mind some of the distances I travel for my sons karting. The van got some really nice comments in the Paddock. Having to get it kitted out now for proper kart transportation and for tools/parts storage to maximise space practicality. |
