put it in sport mode, left foot on the brake right on the gas. dct off. usually go to about 1400 to 2000 revs and let it go. don't know if this is the best way but its working pretty well anyone got a better way?

No launch control A 2k launch is about all you can do.
If dct is on, and you try a launch will the rear wheels spin? How can you do a burnout on a step?

hold the DTC button for the 3+ seconds to turn it COMPLETELY off then hold the brake with the left foot and hold the gas pedal down then when you feel the wheels moving let go of the brake and car should just stay there with the wheels spinning. I never tried it when my car was stock I only did it when I put in my SSTT but I'm sure it will work with stock.

be careful though because when you press on the brake again when the wheels are spinning the wheels will get traction to the street and take off so HOLD THAT BRAKE DOWN!

I dont think the ebrake should be on. So the 3 cannot power brake as my old school cars did. The only spinning comes from high rpm'ed loss of traction. Good to know, thanks

I've been doing a similar method that has given an average of 4.800 0-60 (from a stopwatch) over about 6 runs, different days, same road:
-Transmission in DS -DTC -Left brake -Hold revs at approx 1,800 RPM (tricky in the step) -Quickly nail throttle and release brake at same time The road I test on is a flat paved asphalt construction access road. It is a bit dusty so I usually get a little wheel spin in 1st but it hooks up pretty quickly. I usually try to click the stopwatch at 64 MPH indicated to account for the speedo error. None of this is exact science but I'll log some additional runs to account for errors in timing, etc.. Aaron

The best launch I witness was a 330i E90 driven by Mr. G. He could tail a speeding M3 E46 @ ~ 230kmh withour hesitation. Yes, he said the same thing, Sport mode (DTC ON), just floor it.

by torque-braking? as long as you don't do it frequently you should be fine.

I found my best launches to be when im in DS, and press the DTC button once. Then I torque brake to at or around 2000, and let her rip!

In a previous thread I've seen suggestions to leave the car in D and then use the paddles to force 1st gear.
Then as soon as you're rolling, push the shifter over for DS. The theory being that DS will shift faster and more accurately than you could [given the slight delay on upshift]. Nick |
