Does your driver seat return to memory after moving rear seats?
Wondering if this is by design.
When we move the rear seats to give access to the 3rd row, the driver seat never move back to the memory position. You always have press the memory button to get it back to where it needs to be. Doesn't seem to do this on the passenger side. |

No it doesn't, which is very annoying. 2nd row seat also goes all the way back after 3rd row is raised which is inconvenient too. I wish BMW can have some real user inputs to design this kind of things…

Welcome to BMW. I've been complaining about this issue since the day I took delivery in November of 2019. BMW must be hiring brain dead engineers since they can't seem to fix a simple thing like this.
Their engineers are also not smart enough to figure out how to keep the car from locking when my wife walks away with her keys in her purse. All the while with me sitting in the driver's seat with my key fob in my pocket. There's finally an SIB on this issue. Oh, in case you didn't know they also broke the comfort access on 07/2021.xx. Now we get to have the car set the profile for the person with a key fob that touches the passenger side door handle. They aren't driving of course but BMW seems to think they are since it changes all the settings to their profile. You better make sure you get to the car before your significant other does if you want your profile loaded. These BMW engineers must be living in some alternate reality because they certainly aren't living in the same world we live in. |

Looks like you asked this question about 2 years ago and had a few good answers:
https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1746245 Mine returns as expected... as long as I don't interrupt the process (like open the driver's door, take off the driver's seat belt, manually adjust the 2nd row seat before the driver seat returns, etc.).

Mine is having similar issue.
I have to fold and slam back the set in the 2nd row for it to register and start coming back. And the seats move soooooooooo damn slow. Considering they make such quick cars, perhaps they should step up the seat motors.

When the driver seat moves to accommodate the second row actuation it doesn’t move back. Not sure what conditions may cause this, but it just doesn’t.
It also doesn’t always go back to the setting even after I press the preset. I often have to press a couple of times and then it will finish. Sometimes the mirrors don’t go back if they were moved. It’s annoying, but I don’t lose brain cells over it. |

To unfoundnemo’s point, I haven’t noticed it not working but I’m also very aware that it’s as slow as can be and extreme patience is required so as to not interrupt.

Me too, and more
My driver's seat sometimes returns to position, but mostly does not. In addition, the 2nd row, which I keep pushed back for legroom, never returns to the pushed back position, and it's obvious since I have the bench seat. As so many have said, not too many brain cells are lost, but ridiculous on a $100K+ car. Sigh.
Biggest issue is when I'm sitting in the driver seat and flip up the 2nd row, I really get squished. I'm usually too dazed to remember to push the memory button to move my seat back ![]() |

The many annoying seat issues are the main reason I don't know if the next SUV will be an X7.
Another one is shouldn't max cargo button move the second row seats forward.... All the annoying bugs (features) make me waste so much time readjusting seats.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me. Just got my X7 with captains chairs yesterday, and was scratching my head why:
1. The 2nd row seat does not return to the previously selected position - I have to move it manually afterwards. 2. The driver seat doesn't return to the previous position as well. Probably I have to wait until the second row one stops moving, but the problem is that if I have an adult sitting in the third row, I don't want the 2nd row seat to be too far back. 3. Sometimes I get "rear seat is in unlocked position" message and nothing other than restarting the car seems to fix it. |

I just did a 1100 mile trip with 6 so lots of in an out from all seats. The drivers seat almost always went back to previous, but I think it didn't once when I was sitting in it. One thing I always knew is driver seat adj stop if you put in drive and go before it finishes. For those where it doesn't go back auto do you have a drivers seat memory set? Perhaps it only goes back to the last seat memory. Though my steering wheel going back to previous was and has always been spotty.
What is annoying once you start moving and realize everything is not back to normal you have to keep pressing the memory button many times to get to 100%. Some stupid saftey thing where it will not do auto adjustments because the car is moving. The second row bug was really annoying on this trip cause the elderly in the second row could not be relied on to put the seat forward a little bit for the kids in the third. It's so dumb 2nd row wont go to previous, perhaps my biggest pet peave of the car over the last 2 years.
