My first BMW - How did I do?
Im actually pretty excited. I will be flying to texas to pick up my car. ($163 ticket lol - yay for a crappy economy)
After looking for some time locally, I was dissapointed at the prices on CPO cars at my local dealer. Coming from a GTO, I wasnt interested in the 325. I drove it, and while the handling was impressive, the throttle was dissapointing. The 335 was very nice, BUT Turbos are a high dollar maintenance issue I dont want to get invloved with, and I see lots of stories about high oil temps in these cars. That plus the price point on them was pretty much out of my range. SO I found the 330 to be a happy medium. I wanted the "ammenities" of a BMW. I liked the idrive and nav system, and alot of the options I was seeing on these cars. My dealer had a 06 330i - black, w/ brown leather, Nav, sport, premium, etc, car was LOADED heavy. 33k mi and a CPO. Got them down to 27,900 and was happy at this price as it was affordable to me. But, as we were discussing the car someone came in and snapped it up. Finding the one I wanted (I didnt wish to settle) started to prove diffcult. I wanted an 06 330i, Nav, sport, premium, all the good options, etc, in Black with decent milegae at a 28K price point. (I have a thing for black) What I just put a deposit on was this - 2006 330i, Black, navigation, Sport package, Premium package, L7 Sound, xenons, a few minor options, Automatic (I like the BMW auto -its nice) adaptive cruise, etc. Only things it doesnt really have is the cold weather, but it does have the 60/40 split rear that I wanted (who needs heated seats in south NC). I would have liked to have had the comfort accesss, but its just fluff really. I did NOT want the active steering assist which thankfully this car doesnt have. Now heres the kicker. Car has...... 4700 miles on it. No, thats not a typo. 4,700 miles. Considering the prices I was seeing locally, I felt that 28,900 was a good deal for this car. Espically considering thats about what I paid for a pontiac GTO new. Pulled the carfax, perfect. Went to loacal dealer - checked service record via VIN - one oil change, no issues. October 06 in service date, so I still have almost 2 years of factory warranty. I may opt to find a "paid" warranty program for this car, but Im not sure which ones are good for a BMW. What do you guys think? How did I do on this one? Its going to be an intersting change from a GTO, thats for sure. |

You don't find too many with such low mileage like that. Enjoy!

Carfax says its an off lease car. Who leases a car to drive it 5000 miles??
Anyway - a stupid question... Im sure I missed it but, looking at the 330i at the dealer here, the one I almost bought, i didnt see an engine oil dipstick. I figure its in some wierd german overengineered place or something.. Sort of like a game of Where's Waldo. Seriously though, I give... Where is it? |

Probably was a loaner or demo car which are sometimes registered as lease/fleet vehicle.
Great choice man.. But i kinda feel that 330 is gonna be kinda slow for you compared to the GTO.. |

Oh I dont doubt I will miss the power.
But at the same time the BMW is much more enjoyable to drive. I leaned that much from my test drive. The GTO was so unruly and loud, and draws so much attention when you open it up, its hard to use it to its potential, espically in an urban enviornment. Frankly I got on it here and ther but not very much. |

So this one isn't CPO? I would question why they decided not to. Either way, low mileage is good....but this is "suspect" low mileage. Good luck, and welcome to the Bimmer family

No comparison to the GTO in terms of quality, ride, handling, etc. There is soooo much more to the way these things are built and the way they drive than the immediately perceived throttle response. Good job finding one of the 06s that you like. |

Its not a BMW dealer.
According to what the local bmw service manager said (he pulled the service report for me via VIN) is that BMW CANNOT CPO this car. It doesnt have enough mileage. minimum mileage for a CPO is 6000. The service manager told me that I can Buy a CPO - like warrant with even better coverage for around 1800 bucks or so , if they inspect the car and find it to be in proper condition. And the bottom line? I would NEVER touch a CPO car with 6000 miles on it for anywhere remotely close to the price I am paying. it would easily be 35,000. Quite possibly more, depending on what the residual was or what the dealer actually had in the car itsself. Then again, he couldnt remember the last time they saw an off lease car that was 2 years old come in with this low mileage. You really pay for that "CPO status". And he can offer a better deal out of the service department. As he put it, Im basically buying a "new old stock" almost a demo vehicle, for 20,000 off sticker. Who cares if its an 06. he was also touting how the intake on the 330i not only gives the car more HP on the dyno, but it also greatly improves throttle response and roll in. PS im already learnign fast... I think im goign to find a set of the "M6 reps" for it... I take it that means M6 look alike wheels? They look REALLY nice. |

Congrats man.
That's a nice looking car. I came from a '68 GTO to the Bimmer lol.... Of course, I have other vehicles as well, but essentially, the bimmer replaced the goat for me too, so.... Welcome to the Goat to Bimmer club! |

lol mine was an 05 goat...
As for the intake - i wasnt talking aftermarket, I was talking about the upgraded intake manifold and such on the 330 that gives it more power over the 328/325 |
