OK so what's the real deal on my 325i

What do you guys think of the 325i. Obviously you guys have the 330s and 335i's but I was just wondering your take on a 325i E90. I personally feel it is very quick and nimble and love it. However I have not sat in another BMW that is quicker. You don't see many 325i's and over in the UK...220 hp 0-60 in under 7 is kinda decent in my eyes...just want some takes on my car. Thanks.

It's a damn nice car. Just because there are faster 3er's, that doesn't make it any less nice.

It's a shame all the posts around here about "I'm better than you because I (or my parents) spent more on my car." If you want a real dose of snobbery, just head over to the "M3 vs..." subforum over on M3post. Never have I seen so many grown ass men make such juvenile asses of themselves.

The 325i is a great car. Don't mind the haters.

Thanks man. Just been on there. I wish to own an m3 one day of course. In the meantime 325i gets a lot of looks here and every one that has sat in it comments on the torque and speed and smoothness of it.

The 325 is an awesome car. We have two of them, and think they're amazing. A lot of people on here don't understand why we don't have 335's but that's because we're so in love with our 3.

Nothing wrong with it at all. It's an awesome car. An engine is only part of the whole picture, and it's not like the 325i's is bad. It's smooth and linear.

If I asked on here to debadge, a lot of people would say yes but I'm proud to have a 325 no shame for me. I'm not tooting my own horn here, I just think us 325ers don't get much of a say up in here.

Don't get me wrong though would love to feel a 330i or 335i. One of my friends just bought a 530d and I dunno what it was but I just didn't like it.

Yeah, I don't want to debadge because the 325 is what started it all. There would be no 335 without 325! But I agree, the amount of 325 people on here are hugely outnumbered.

Umm...that makes no sense...if there was no 325i there would still be a 3 series. It would just have a different engine.

yes, but based on 325 sales in the past, they decided to make the 335. if previous 3's had been a dud, there would be no 335

lol no. they introduce a new engine, or a revision, every two years regardless. the 335i was the answer to ever-increasing competition. the 3 series was designed conservatively to guarantee that it wouldn't be a dud. it wouldn't be a dud if it looked like shit anyways. people would still buy it for the badge.

It's just the engine really other than that it's still a BMW and you're in the family no metter lol. But to your theory on debadging is kinda weak. I debadged my car because it looks nicer without the numbers even on my E46 330Ci I had it debadged and sure people might have thought it was a 325 there is not big difference between the two. Even at the car wash the buy puts it down as a 325. I think that 325 is a symbol 3 series, so if people are confused about that kind of 3 series it is, it will either be an M3 or a 325

OP, 325 in the UK is awesome. You'd have an M3 if you lived in the US.

There's no shame in debadging. To some people, it does look nice and clean. If I debadge my car, it won't be to try to trick non car-nuts into thinking it's an ///M; it'll be to make it look cleaner.

Especially with the dual exhausts, the badge kinda throws off the symmetrical balance of the car.

Do what you want with your car. Be proud of it. It's yours. You bought it. Do what you want and feel good about it.

I think the 325i represents a nice happy medium performance-wise which is why I went with one myself. It's got enough power to get around in traffic easily and accelerate quickly when the need (or desire) arises, but you do have to wind it up a little to access that power which is part of the fun in my book.

Nothing wrong with a 325i.. It's faster than e46s anyways!

Wrong my friend and I raced when I had my 330Ci and I was faster in the straight line, although from a roll it was pretty much the same

I wasn't even looking at BMWs when I was first searching for a new daily driver. I just happened upon a 325i on a used car lot one day, and since they didn't have anything else there that I particularly cared for, the salesman talked me into a test drive. I was really impressed with the smoothness of the engine, and how the torque builds up much lower (2750rpm) than a lot of other cars (even ones that make more hp). so its actually a bit quicker than the numbers would suggest. On top of that it was very comfortable, attractive, and somewhat sporty, with good road feel. So after that test drive, I stopped searching for other cars, and began searching for an E90 325.

yeah, I could have gotten something faster, but I'm really happy with the balance of economy and sportiness this car has. I've been getting over 28mpg in this car, which rivals a lot of 4 cylinder cars (I expense mileage at work, so that is important to me). My integra only gets ~29mpg on the same commute, and it doesn't even come close to the comfort and refinement of the E90.
