New To BMW...Some Things I dont get...help plz
Hey everyone, its been about 2 weeks ive had my new 335i coupe and i got some questions about things i dont understand , eve after searching forums and manual.
1. when you put ur car into reverse? do you notice the headlights getting brighter? i dno what turns on but i notice the wall in front of me just lights up, are my headlights retarded? or in the wrong setting? cuz ive never heard of that. 2. HOW THE HECK do i enable automatic lights to be on and stay on for a certain time after i lock the doors and walk away? i know there is something called lighted walkway or something? in my Idrive settings but nope.. also i know may sound a total dufus for asking this but... the light nobb on the left , what does exactly what? im sure A is automatic. 3. also, by any chance does anybody have the auxillary port and do u use anything else besdes a ipod or anything else from mac? Thanks...

1) my headlights don't get brighter in reverse. i don't think headlights can be retarded. 2) A is for auto. you should be able to adjust your settings in the iDrive menu. i left mine at 37 seconds; clarkson reference. 3) i've only used my iPod. i think you can use anything though, like a laptop.

if youve ever put reverse on in front of a mirror, you can realize that the two lights inside the inner angel eyes turn on. these lights also turn on if you turn the steering wheel left or right. if you want proof of this just ask someone to put in reverse in your car while you stand outside in front of the car.

No, it was from a BMW review. The M5 review in 6x09. Also, he settled on 38, not 37 seconds

the zen sucks big time!!!!!!!!!
now that that's said.. it will work.. just use an aux cable.. you know just a headphone jack not the bmw cable for the ipod.. which i doubt will work anyways.. just use a regular headphone jack that cost like 2-3 bucks at best buy.. you plug it into the headphone jack and plug the other end into the aux and turn on the aux in the idrie and bam it works... you just have to control the zen through the unit itself not the idrive since there is no usb connection.. a simple way to fix this being a pain int he ass if it still doesn't work is go bu an ipod or iphone 3g.. i love mine and get phenominal reception in the car through blue tooth and awesome music clarity through too.. just save yourself the hassle and buy an ipod. but i am 99.9% sure that if you use just an aux cable without the usb slot and only plug it into the headphone port on the zen you should be good to go. and lightweight how the hell are we supposed to know if you have a lighted walk way without seeing a pic of where you live? are you blind? i assume you meant walk way since i think we don't have a clue what "a lighted walk-away" is.. if you don't have idrive i think the dealer has to do it.. but to my knowledge i think as of more recent years bmw is not offering the options without idrive anymore. hell they cut down the offerings in idrive itself.. b/c idiots couldn't use it properly and got confused. i really don't see why idrive is confusing.. in a 5 and 7 maybe a lil but in a 3 series it is a joke it's so easy.. you really have to be an idiot to not figure it out.. people just don't take the 15 mins to learn it.. they just hop in and spread out the learning and don't remember things as well and get confused.. same can be said at delivery since they are so excited to drive the car off the lot many act like they know everything already.. then they come bitching to the SA or CA after the fact because they didn't listen in the first place or take the time to learn it on their own.. rtfm |

Follow you home headlights (pathway lighting) operates when the ignition is switched off and you flash the headlights once. The duration for the lights is set in i-Drive or on your instrument panel if you don't have i-drive. If you don't have i-drive you really have to read the manual.
If your headlights seem to be getting brighter perhaps you have adaptive headlights or corner lights. If fitted, they can be found in the inner headlights which are otherwise used for nothing but the angel eyes. They will light up in the direction your wheel is pointing up to a speed of about 24mph above which they don't operate. What I don't understand is, when a person buys such a lovely car, they can't be bothered to at least browse the manual to see what exactly they have bought. |

A lot of us who have the Auxillary port just use a simple memory stick. I just loaded a bunch of albums on a USB flash drive and stuck in the port in the armrest. Works great as a MP3 player that way.

Umm, you do it when you want the pathway lighting feature to operate. You pull it once and walk away and the lights go off by themselves after the set time. I've used it before but have no need for it on a regular basis.
