hate my g30
Just venting.
Of the 6 bmw's i've owned, i think the 2019 g30 is the one i hate the most. I've had so many issues with it. The most annoying being the bent rims. I don't aim/try to hit pot holes. But i live in the north east. They are everywhere. I am on my 8th bent rim fix, 6 tire replacements, 4 brake pads changes, and the car is in the shop every 5-6 months for some sort of issue. Key fob doesn't work, dashboard glitches and is offset. So the RPM is moved over to middle of screen, and the other 1/2 is black, etc...This all before 36k miles. Of the 5 other BMW's i've own. I've done zero brake jobs before the lease end, no bent rims, and only 2 tire replacements because of nails. So this isn't about my driving style. Anyways i just had to get that off my chest. |

That sucks, man. Sorry to hear it. Are you riding on larger wheels/shorter sidewalls than your previous cars? Regardless, I hope that luck turns around for ya.

The devil is in the details, tell us more, model, year, wheels, tires, etc.
BTW, I am in the Northeast, W&T insurance is a must. I am hoping you have it and are just venting about the inconvenience.

Yep...more vehicle info would help.
I drive mine year-round and opted for the 19" wheels. 20" wheels year round would be suicide in my area....19's are bad enough. I'm in CT and the pothole situation is awful. I'm curious why all the brake pad changes? What kind of issue were you experiencing to have to change the pads so frequently? |

I'm on 20 inch run flats here in the U.K. and have had 2 tyres needing replacement due to potholes in the 5 years of ownership.
These run flats are to blame here . All of this pain just because carrying a spare tyre and wheel will increase the co2 spat out / mpg ever so slightly which the manufacturers will get penalised on. How much co2 has been created to make all the replacement tyres and wheeelz we get through!! |

I feel your pain. The roads here in New York/New Jersey are the worst. I have a great place in Sayreville NJ that does a great job repairing bent wheels if you're looking for good a place.
And no it's not you or the car, it's the roads here in the north east that have progressively gotten worse over the past 5 years I've noticed. It really REALLY sucks!! Just terrible.

I wonder if we will ever see any of that Biden Infrastructure bill money be used to improve our deteriorating roads nationwide. I doubt it, we just sent a big chunk of it to the Ukraine. What's left will go to little Johnny in east bum fuck for internet access so he can sit in his room all day and watch Tic Tok videos.
Well, that's me venting now.

I've only gathered about 5.5K miles on mine but I do agree the NE roads are pretty shit it's the literal reason I decided to stick with the 18 rather than 19 give me that extra protection in place of looks. Only suggestion would be to downgrade rim size and upgrade tire if it's within the realm of possibility.

Similarly lost a tyre with 6mm on it due to potholes in Scotland. Had a bulge on the sidewall and must've been a pothole, the 20" wheels are a bit of a mistake for our roads I think but not worth the cost of changing alloys and tyres.

some times people just get cars w defects. The tire/wheel issue comes down to where you live and the size of the wheel -low profile tires. My RS7 had 21's w summer low profiles with caused a lot of issues. The winter tires I had were much more resilient. I once got a double flat on the highway w my father in law oy!!

Sell that car and get a new 5 series. Luck or lemon, G30 is as good as it gets. What a machine you are! (C)

I went 18” wheels as the roads in the NE are just absolute monsters. Doesn’t look as flashy, but better than getting a new wheel and tires every other day while driving on the surface of the moon.
Sounds like you’ve hit a lot of issues though. I’d cut my losses and swap out. Life’s too short to be suffering through any kind of abuse. |

If you had 19, what's the ride difference like going to 18?

I’ve driven loaners with 19” and I don’t notice a major difference in ride. But more than 1 have had bubbles in the tires at the start of the loaner journey! |

All that said, I haven't had an issue with the 19's YET. Fingers crossed. But I sometimes wonder if the ride would be noticeably different. I'm sure I could request a loaner with 18's, but it would probably be an X something or a 3, so not a good comparison.

I ordered non run flats18's from the factory. More rubber and air to provide an exemplary ride and absorb the road blows. Don't look as good, don't fill the arches with beautiful wheels. No issues in 25,000 miles. Uk roads are good in parts.
Would order again |

I have 19 inch for summer and 18 inch on winter, never had any issues, both sets are RFT's. The roads in Eastern Europe where I drove the car are not that good but overall I think any wheel size over 20 will create problems.
Also I had 0 issues with the car in 4 years and about 60k km, it is the most reliable BMW I ever owned. |
