X3M - Boost Pressure sensor

Hi guys,

Planning on installing a Racechip on my X3m Comp. Just wondering if anyone could share the location or guide me to the boost pressure sensor as the instructions /video do not make it very clear. (well not clear to me anyway). The video suggests its on the right side (passenger side) of the engine bay underneath somewhere... is this correct?

Thanks in advance

Yes boost pressure sensor is on the right side, if looking at the car head on. This video predictably makes it seem like a walk in the park. It’s not. Rather, I removed the front right wheel, removed an access cover, and fiddled for 45 minutes to install the plug. There’s plenty more threads on this. Difficult but not impossible.

P.7-8 should help. JB4 uses the same 3 sensors for the basic settings.

Racechip installed with the help of a local BMW specialist garage with the information above provided... Drivetrain warning

Warning goes away with the deactivation plug connected.

Most likely you are connected to a wrong sensor.

Post pictures.

Dumb question - does your air conditioning work? I remember reading somewhere the ac sensor wire is easily mistaken for boost pressure sensor wire in picture 3

That's what I thought too at first. But, it seems like OP's picture is correct and taken from the bottom.
This is a common mistake on G8x M3/M4 since you access the boost sensor from the top and while looking down, the AC compressor is there and using the same connector as boost sensor.

My only thought is the orientation of the connectors. I know that this 3 pin connectors can be fitted with wrong orientation (clocked 180Ί) and still goes in with little force.

I tried looking at all my images, but I couldn't find it.

Its been a while since the first post so I thought I'd best update you.... Finally managed to get the Racechip installed without any drivetrain warnings..

In the end I contacted Racechip support. They asked for me to sent the Racechip back to them so they could check for any faults, no issues found. Once returned the issue persisted.. They then sent out a new cable. Hey presto all working no warnings! Racechip support were great really, didn't cost me a penny to get the issue resolved but got plenty of practice in taking the car apart lol.

Haven't done much testing yet as I'm leaving it on a low setting to allow the engine to get used to the thing connected but so far on a low setting, noticeable improvement.

Thanks for everyone that replied to assist.

Assuming no issues? Still trying to learn, but it seems like overall both RC and JB4 are considered to be pretty safe, no?

I work remotely so I don’t drive nearly as much as I used to. If I was still driving 30kmiles a year, I’d be doing a perp walk regularly
