Rear Spoiler Black Trim Faded

Just noticed this the other day after the warranty expired CPO won't cover and the dealer want $770 parts and labor. How hard is this to replace, are there screws or clips?

I am having the same issue on a 2022. Dealer is replacing. I know the price on the part for a 2021 is less than $200.00

Don't waste your money replacing it only to have it happen again in a year.

Save money and just get it wrapped.
That is what I am doing. will last longer and is only costing me $150.
I could get it re-wrapped 5x for the price of a replacement part that is just going to fade again.

Bought an X3M a month ago, used. Took to dealer on first oil change and mentioned spoiler trim blue'ing. They said it was extremely odd. That was until I pulled the SA down the row of other vehicles waiting to be serviced, and every damn BMW SUV in the bay had blue'ing on the same piece of trim, no matter which X model it happened to be. SA quickly stated they would replace the trim at no cost.

I might just go this route cause mine is fading too . I have a third party warranty and they prolly wouldn’t cover it talking about “normal wear and tear” . I don’t wanna go thru the hassle .

My dealer took one look at the blue fade and said, "no problem" and ordered it on the spot. If the new one starts to turn after warranty is up I will just wrap it. I wrapped the mirrors with gloss black and am very happy with the color match with the rest of the trim.

Can wrap it or get it replacement, on your dime or warranty… it will fade again.
No wax or ceramic coat will stop it.
Cannot believe BMW has not extended warranty for these garage pieces.
If you have to pay for it just wrap it - had a quote of $150 to wrap mine which I’ll do after as many replacements as I can get from BMW over the life of car/warranty

Warranty extensions are generally for parts that fail. Not something cosmetic.

?
Myself and many members have had this replace under warranty.
Why wouldn’t something comestic be replaced? One thing if it’s “wear and tear” but a defective part is much different.
Warranty should, and does, cover this defective comestic part.

I agree with you, that's why it is covered under new vehicle warranty for defects in materials or workmanship. What I'm saying is a warranty extension is generally for parts that are known to fail. Like the air flaps, NVLD, etc.

Something cosmetic only follows new vehicle warranty. I too have had mine replaced.

Oh yes… recalls for defects or extended warranties usually do only apply to safety or drivetrain issues … not so much comestic… but with that said , they should because these garbage plastic parts have been fading for years on many BMWs not just ours out of principal and quality alone but they won’t I agree

CPO is the best warranty after new vehicle warranty.
