Any tall guys out there driving Z4's?

Just wondering if any tall people are driving Z4's and what the practical height limit might be. I really love this car but at 6'4" I worry about comfort. I'm ready to buy but naturally my dealer has no stock and doesn't expect any anytime soon. Any big galoots out there?

You definitely need to drive it yourself and not rely on someone else's experience as we all interpret comfort differently.

I recommend that you do a search for a used 2019-2022 model in your area to test drive if your dealer doesn't have anything in stock.

I'm 6'4" and have plenty of room. Depending on your body layout (long legs or long torso) may differ from mine (which I don't think of as being long legs or torso). The Z4 has more room in it than my Z3 M Roadster which was also large enough for me even with a helmet on (just needed to scrunch a bit when wearing a helmet).

You could also check to see if there is a ZSCCA chapter near you and if there is, go to one of their events. I'm sure there would be people there who would let you try their Z4 on for size.

BMW of Schererville shows a BSM 2021 M40i with only 3,000 miles available. Is that far from you?

I’m 6’1” with long legs (34.5”inseam) and I find it very comfortable. I’m not a “Big guy” at 165lbs, so I have plenty of room.

I'm 6'3", but with stupidly long legs. (36" inside leg measurement.) My Z4 is just about big enough for me although I have to have the seat back a bit more upright than I'd like. My son is 6'5", although with much shorter legs than me. He fits fine although his head is pretty high up. His torso is much, much, longer than mine.

But, like others, you really have to try it...

6'5" 190 here.

I don't have a G29 (yet), but I have sat in one and it was perfectly comfortable to me. It's one of the major reasons I'm interested in this car over a Boxster or low-end exotic.

I did own an E89, which felt about the same size, and it was one of the roomiest 2-seaters I've ever owned (except for maybe the Nissan 350Z).

I'm 6 foot 1 and it's got too much room. Getting in isn't the easiest but once I'm in it's got plenty of seat travel. Much better than Miata and Boxster.

6'3", 225 lbs.

I don't have the seat all the way back and not fully reclined. I fit just fine. For comparison's sake I've had a 2004 SL500 and a 2005 SLK350. The SL500 is just physically larger, but I always had the seat as far back as it could go. The SLK350 was more of a roadster size, but I truly maxxed it out in every way, much smaller than the G29.

With the top up on the G29, I still have plenty of head room.

Ingress/egress is like any low sports car. It is what it is.

As far as downsides to being larger in this car, the silly placement of the seat belt holder allows it to ride way up and crosses your neck. So far, that's all I'm finding.

Niiiice. I'm 6'6"/205 and am so intrigued. Still in love?

Though I have an M3 on order, there's something about the Z4 that always spoke to me. That Goldeneye Z3 piloted by Pierce Brosnan planted the seed.

Time to take a trip to the dealership for a fitting...

I saw a video on YT a couple of days ago where the reviewer was something like 6'5" and he said it fit him well. All things relative I guess as he did look a bit confined in the footwell, but that may be normal for him so it's no worse than any other normal-sized car perhaps.

I'll have to do some googling and find the fella. My local(ish) dealer has a Z4 on the floor. Will report back!

6' 1", 220lbs, 34" inseam. Start with a Miata, see if you fit in that (unlikely). I didn't fit. Try a Boxster next (good comparison anyway, drives better imho, but Z is better looking and far better interior), if you fit in that Z will feel even better. Roomiest 2 seater to me is the C8 Vette.
