I've been getting information overload these past few months from the forum. My last X5 was an '06 that at the time was a year old when I purchased it. Had it for a year and moved on to something else as my needs moved to a pickup. I always had the urge to get back to the X5. So with the great information from everyone on the forum I ordered a 45e back in late May. Now bumped to a '23 that is now said to be a September delivery as the dealer called the other day and said I moved up to the next part of the process.
I was a bit bummed that options and packages changed a bit so I needed to make some final adjustments. My dealer warned me that it might go to a '23 when I originally ordered.
Looking forward to getting back to a BMW. We looked at the Cayenne, q7, and a GLE. Each were very nice but we were pretty focused on the X5. Great site and a lot of information that people provide. It is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! i joined in Dec 2020 after getting my first bimmer, the X5 45e (though wife has had bimmers for 14 years). it was a spontaneous purchase after coming across some good fortune amidst the pandemic, and probably one of the best purchases in my adult life.

since then, I've only had two issues (lower tailgate motor spindle replacement and an HV battery module recall/replacement). OTW I enjoy this beast everyday!

Thank you.
With my allocation assigned the dealer mentioned a late August production with an October delivery. I'm pretty happy with everything so far other than the wait. Once we decided that the X5 was for us it went quite smoothly. 2k below MSRP and they would not budge further.

I wouldn't be disappointed getting the '23 vs '22

By and large they're the same vehicles and with the supply shortage…the availability of standard features and options were a total crap shoot for the '22's

About the only thing stripped from the '23 was the base vernasca leather

Looking at your picture reminded me of how hard it is for me to park my car by backing in...I'm hoping the Parking Assistant package will make it easier!

Welcome! Like you I got a huge amount of information from the knuckleheads here. Loving my 45e after ~1500 miles. A few oddities here and there but overall I could not be more pleased. Hope your production process goes smoothly!

Glad you love it! Anything on your current one that you wish you would have gotten or wish you didn't get?

With PAP you get the camera package which I think has 6 cameras. You are able to see how far the car is from objects as you park by changing camera views

They are two different things. The Parking Assistant Plus is part of the Parking Assistance Package. It will do automatic parking, both parallel and perpendicular. Backup Assistant is part of the package, I also use it every time I get out of my garage.

It contains other items and is an "automatically check the box" option.

Back up assistant being the various camera views or some auto drive mode?

Backup Assistant is the feature that will drive the vehicle in reverse for up to the last 165 ft that it drove forward. This is helpful when needing to back out of tight spaces or driving down a curvy driveway since it retraces/reverses your forward movement exactly. The Surround View with 3D View gives you three extra cameras (each mirror and the front) and well as the 3d view.

Maybe this instructional video will help, it demonstrates parallel & perpendicular parking and the backup assistant.

In the perpendicular parking...can I do it in my garage? Or does it need those white lines that define a parking spot in a parking lot?

Can't do it in the garage. It needs vehicles on either side of the parking spot, it doesn't look at the lines to determine available spots.

So it wouldn't park in an empty parking lot as there would be no cars on either side of any parking spot!
