Dyno Day for my Stage 1 MHD X4 M40

2019 X4 M40i with 32K miles. Stage 1 MHD OTS Tune 98 Octane. XHP Stage 3 Trans Tune.

Who's got some guesses to power/torque?

This is a Mustang Dyno so typically falls a bit short of a Dynojet.

XHP will not make a difference in a dyno run, put the MHD on the stock map and run it then select the MHD map to compare the numbers

Baseline Stock Pulls - 359whp, 392wtq

MHD Stage 1 Pulls - 416whp, 438 wtq

Gain of 57whp and 46wtq. I wasnt expecting this at all.

I'll post the graph after I scan them.

Don't quite understand how it made 359hp@wheels when these are rated to 382hp or 285kw at the engine?

Understanding that a dyno is just a measurement and tuning tool and its the delta that matters

Drivetrain loss and 382hp is at the crank?

Negative. Thats wrong. The 2020+ is 382. 2019 M40i has only 355hp at the crank. So here he is even more hp at the engine with whp. So in reality he probably does have 380 hp at the crank.
Typical BMW underrated numbers.

Gen1 B58?

Bone stock?

Unblended fuel past the E10?

98octane as in 98 ron?

above #'s are ... truly unbelievable (in a good sort of way) especially coming from a linked dyno...

Or, x4 gen1 b58 is one hell of a b58...

Drive train loss is 15-20% though, no?

How's the MHD tune treating you? Did you change your plugs before installing the tune?

The 15-20 % number has been around for decades, like 30 years at least. Engines and drivetrains have become more efficient in modern years.

The only way to know for sure is to pull an engine, dyno it on a engine dyno and then install it back into the vehicle and then run a vehicle on a chassis dyno to see what the difference really is.

As others said, drivetrain losses is the answer. BUT, more importantly, you should look at the % delta between baseline and tuned.

Each dyno will show different numbers in different conditions, but the % difference should be pretty consistent.

I forgot about this thread, lol, I apologize for the delay in response.

Gen 1 B58, Bone Stock, 93 Octane with a can of Torco so maybe 107 Octane.

Not the first time I tuned it, but i did change plugs and the coils about 200 miles before the dyno.

I have an ER catless thermocoated downpipe ready to go on next. I want to make a few passes at the dragstrip before I go stage 2. Next dyno Day is in September I believe.

This is the lowest I've been able to manage on a countryish road. I am guessing I'll be sub 4 seconds when i get a flat prepped surface at the dragstrip. 1/8th mile was 8.15 at 70.xx, but i let off as soon as I heard "60" so Im not sure of a real number.

Maybe I'll be able to hit the strip next Wednesday night. It was closed due to weather tonight.

Not sure what a stage 2 and catless DP should run 0-60. Anyone else have this set up thats gonna see this?
