E91 Trailer Hitch

2010 xDrive auto

I wasn't going to consider this for my pampered wagon. But I will have the need to pull a smallish boat (18ft 2200 lbs) to and from a boat ramp, a 10 minute drive.
Does anybody have experience with this? I suppose an E90 would be the same…
Should I be worried about towing this short distance?
What is a good no-drill hitch?
How ugly is the hitch?

Thanks

Rich

This is the hitch I was looking at for my E91 when I thought about pulling a small trailer with my motorcycle on it.

I think they actually have videos of the installation.

I sprung for this over the Curt one and so happy I did, when you remove the gooseneck its truly invisible, and since the gooseneck goes vertically into the frame no play in it compare to the receiver style ones so no noise from that.

Mine is actually the Invisihitch, which is the predecessor to that but basically the same design except the center portion is solid instead of modular. I think they just made that change so they could simplify the manufacturing of the part that is unique to the car to save cost.

I also added this to it: https://www.curtmfg.com/part/40047

Helps not transmit as much trailer noise into the cabin and helps with sudden jolts like hitting speedbumps, etc. Ive not towed a boat but have towed my motorcycle on a trailer hundreds of miles and you cant tell its back there. These cars actually look pretty cool towing and its hilarious the looks you get:

Oh, and on the "ugly" part, here it is with the gooseneck removed, flush with the underbody plastic:

I bought this for my wagon.

Receiver sits right under the bumper and doesn’t poke out.
