Quick spark plug question, champions
Hey installing new plugs and I ordered the fcp euro Oem RERX4ZWYPB OE245 plugs for my car. I noticed that some people say to use RERX4ZWYPB -1 plugs. Are these different in any way? Some sites list them as OE245/9425.
I also looked on the champion website and it only pulled up RERX4ZWYPB -1 9425 plugs. FCP euro only lists the one set of champions. Just want to make sure I'm putting in the right plugs. Thanks |

I ordered a set of plugs from one of the vendors here. I was sent three champions and three ngks. My rationale was probably dumb, but based solely on the visible construction differences, I sent the champions back and asked for 3 more ngks. The machining on the threads was less refined and the "grain" of the ceramic insulators seemed less dense. Again, probably ridiculous reasons and they're obviously fine or they wouldn't be used from the factory but side by side, they just seemed to have slightly poorer construction.

That may be true for Champions in general and in the past but these for the BMW are platinum iridiums. I tracked on these they are fine and last long but I also prefer NGKs.

I just installed Bosch plugs at the sixth oil change, per the service schedule. I’m getting slightly better highway mileage, at 33 - 34 mpg, vs. around 32 with the original, worn Champion plugs. They gave me good service for six years.
