Seatbelt and Airbag Warning light

I took my car in to service for the seatbelt and warning light that comes on even when buckled. I was told that the had to change the detector pad thing that was located under the seats. The service guy told me that they were waiting for the upholstery and the other parts to get it fixed. Probably gonna get done by tomorrow, we'll see what happens.
Any one had the same problem and took it back to the dealer? Did they actually rip the seats up and replace new ones? Just so curious cause won't that be a big job?
