Problem with aftermarket rear tail lights

I got some smoked tail lights installed the other day on my '08 E90 335i and just noticed that the rear brake lights flicker when the car is in park. Is this due to the quality of the aftermarket part? I've heard our cars have adaptive brake lights so maybe my ecu is not liking the new rears I got...

my biggest concern is about performance since I have a tune and I know these type of issues can throw codes and I don't want some stupid aftermarket lights to affect my performance gains. Could this problem actually hinder my performance gains? I plan to take the lights off and put the stock one's back on, but will I need to disconnect the battery to reset everything and ensure the ecu is back to normal? Or would this problem not mess with performance at all? Please advise..

Anyone with a similar experience?

the lights should not have anything to do with your "performance gains"... Just run OEM lights to avoid problems with anything.

Yeah man... you sound pretty worried... but don't be... your car will be fine! Tail lights do not affect the performance of your vehicle... unless you have a civic, in which case it adds 5rwhp... Merry Christmas!
