Milage limit on BMW Loaner cars?

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if BMW has a policy on the number of miles you can put on a loaner vehicle?

Thanks!

It's written on the paperwork, along with the stuff about having to reimburse them should you use a toll road or get any parking tickets, etc... Over here it's 200km/day if I'm not mistaken, more than generous.

I've never been told anything by BMW.
I think if you get the loaner car from BMW then drive it like you own it(or worse)
But if the BMW dealership has a car rental company inside such as Enterprise. . .
Then its usually 100 miles per day

Thanks!
In Maryland, Russel and BMW of Towson tells you 100 miles per day. BMW of Towson wanted to charge me $35 to check the tire pressure when the low pressure tire warning light came on.

Wooow... are you serious? That sucks!!

I remember at BMW Austin, it didn't seem like they minded me putting miles on it (one time I put about 300 miles on their car)... not sure how it is with other dealerships...

I plan on taking my car to Momentum BMW in Houston, TX... so if anyone has any experience with that location, please chime in...

I bought my car at Momentum and take my car there. I don't believe they restrict you to any mileage limits on their loaners however, you may not get a BMW loaner if you didn't buy from them. They do not give out BMW loaners on Fridays & Saturdays and even on the other days their BMW loaners are all gone by 8:00 AM. However, they will still put you in a Hertz rental if you request for a loaner. Even though you didn't buy from them you might still be able to get a BMW loaner but that depends on your relationship with your SA.

All this is at Momentum on SW Fwy. I do not know about Momentum West.

OK... I'll call them and ask tomorrow... I'm going to try to get an appointment on Monday, so hopefully they will be able to get me in a loaner at that time... I purchased my car at the BMW in the Woodlands... I guess I'll just have to hope for the best, then... Thanks for the reply!!

Is there really mileage limits on BMW Loaners? i mean i know when you use the enterprise rental inside the dealership they do state how many miles a day you can drive, but i've never heard or been told that i could only drive xxx miles a day for a dealership bmw rental car

I've known plenty of people that have taken their loaners to Vegas or Northern California and came back. Thats easily 300 miles one way.

So I got a loaner from Momentum BMW... there is a 100 mile/day limit and the car is not allowed to be used over a 100 mile radius from the BMW dealership. There are also additional fines should I get a ticket or in an accident (fines on TOP of those from the ticket and/or accident)... pretty strict! The BMW dealership in San Antonio has no restrictions or fees associated...

I guess it really does depend on each dealership

I heard about this too from a friend of mine who dropped his car off for a cylinder head replacement. He got a loaner and I believe the 100 miles/day limit are new rules that were put in effect by a new manager. I believe they also told him that if he had the loaner for 10 days, it doesn't mean that his total mileage shall be within 1000 miles for all 10 days but that he would have to stick within the 100 mile limit for each day. He was also told that the car has a tracking device which would alert the dealership if he went beyond the 100 mile radius which I think is pure BS. The 100 miles/day limit totally sucks!

I don't know about the US, but here in Canada the franchised BMW dealers are not compensated by BMW corporate for their loaner cars, it's something that they have to provide at their own expense. Since these cars are eventually sold used, I imagine that the limits are just a way to prevent abuse by that certain percentage of BMW drivers who couldn't care less since it's not their car.

When my car went in for a computer/NAV problem. I put over 2000 miles on a mini-cooper that they gave me. They did not question me about anything. I did get it washed for them before I returned it though
