Who had the OEM painted spoiler? Need to ask a few Q's

Today I decided to spend a little xmas money at BMW,
I bought a set of Blacklines and a pre-painted OEM spoiler,

Now it comes with one strip of the red backed tape,
To people who have the OEM one was this enough? Or did you feel you had to add more tape?

I thinking a strip on the bottom would help too,
Sadly I don't have any pictures but its on the underside of the spoiler, BMW put tape where it would attach to the top part of the trunk lid, But the bottom of the spoiler which would attach to the rear end of the trunk lid has no tape,
Thats where I am thinking of running one more strip of tape,

BMW tells you to use betalink adhesive to install it. It is too messy so I used 4 strips of 3M Bumper Molding Extra Strength Tape. Works perfectly with no betalink mess.

Yeah I don't want to use the betalink if I can avoid it,

Yours holding up ok with just the 3M tape?

i used betalink its not messy at all if you know what your doing, i don't trust 3m since i've heard a few people say there spoilers flew off on the parkway lol most people only use 3m because they plan on selling the spoiler later thats just my .02 though

THRE IS NO NEED TO USE BETA LINK!! Sorry for shouting but the 3M tape holds very well. My brother in law is an experienced auto body tech. He tells me if you clean the area with rubbing alcohol before placement, you will have a bitch of a time removing it if you ever want to. BUT, unlike betalink, it can be done. I would cover as the entire surface with the tape. I have personally placed 5 spoilers with the tape in the last 7 years. NONE has ever shown any signs of loosening.

haha betalink can be removed its a bitch but so is 3m....im trying to find this thread in nj regional section where someones betalinked down spoiler was stolen in a parking lot, so it isn't that hard if someone can do it in a matter of minutes. I just don't like 3m because of the gap it makes i like the flush look...

One long strip of 3M tape will be more than enough. This is very strong and adequate tape.

3M is definitely strong enough if applied properly.

It is automotive grade afterall.

Holding up just fine. It has not budged with some eccentric driving and all inds of weather.

I changed the spoiler placement once and used a heat gun to remove it. I put new tape on and a dab of betalink in the corners to keep the edges down and all is well. (I put clamps for 8 hours on the corners to help with the betalink adhesion)

i had the dealer install mine and requested to use 3M tape as well.. stay away from betalink, not that it's a bad product but it's not the way to go if you don't want it to be a permanent solution.

3M tape it is!

I bought a roll of the red backed "exterior mounting tape" from 3M,
States it lasts in all weathers and can hold 5Lb's.

fair enough,
I cleaned the area and added a few more strips to the back of the spoiler and attached it,

That stuff grabs like a magnet, I couldn't believe the holding force of it,

anyway installed pics
