All Windows Down.... bugs?

After 3K miles, this morning for the 1st time, I was shocked to see that ALL windows are down and sunroof half way open. I don't have CA, and I am 100% sure that I didn't leave them open last night because I never open windows (I prefer filtered air). and I am sure that I didn't hold down the keys by accident because my habit is always put it on the table right after the drive. Also, I never lock my doors since I park in garage.

anyone have this problem before? is it a bug?

Not that I know of. I haven't come across any technical service bulletin on this issued by BMW either. Maybe report it to your dealership and bring it in to have it looked at. At least they'll have documentation that you've complained about it and hopefully if enough cases comes across BMW's radar screen, they'll issue a bulletin on it.

maybe you sat on the fob and held the unlock button long enough while in range...

It a good thing you parked in the garage. There might be a theory on this, called sleep walking. In such state, one could have gotten up at night and pickup the fob and press the button on the fob. Do you live by yourself or there are others in the house that night? They could have messed with your fob.

I live by myself so I am the one who use/see the fob. and I am 100% that I didn't press or sit on it by accident because I have a habit of right after the driving, i put the key on the table and won't touch it again until the morning.

I would be pissed if that happend to me. Is there a way to disable this feature, so I don't have to worry about doing it. I have no use for it.

Happened to me regularly in my E60.Go in at night, car locked and alarm activated.Come out in the morning all windows down, alarm deactivated and trunk in the fully open position. Was likely to happen anywhere or at any time when the car was parked up.Had it back several times to the dealer and they would replace things, would be ok for a couple of weeks and then be back again. In the end it was a software fix that put an end to the problem. They hooked it up to the "Heart Monitor" downloaded whatever software was on it,sent it off to the UK and some boffin over there scrutinised it,waved a magic wand, sent it back, downloaded it to my car and voila! Problem solved. In short it sounds like you have the same problem I had and it was software related,it got fixed eventually but did take a while to get to the bottom of it.

fanatic, this issue does not apply to all cars. only a small # have report it so far. i wouldn't be too concerned unless u experienced it first hand. u'll get the software update as u bring it in for service.

LOL what if one day you go out shoppin or something, your walking across the parking lot, and all of a sudden you see this BMW, putting the windows down, opening the sunroof, and popping the trunk open. lol i would roll on the floor and die if I saw that in person.. lol BMW's are so cool, they really do have a personallity of their own. , My trunk likes to unlatch it self, and ill get the trunk warning light that its open after I have been crusing for like 30-40 minutes on the freeway at 70 mph.. lol thank god it doesnt open completely, that would be embarassing. But hell its ok. Sometimes your BMW feels sick to the tummy and needs some air. So what better way to cool off a bit, BMW opens everything. I wonder if I called my car if it would turn on and drive over to me?

Is your car named Christine?
Seriously, this is interesting. However, I am only able to unlock my doors and trunk using the key fob remotely. I don't have CA. Is there a way to use it to remotely open the windows, as some people have suggested?

Definitely embarrasing alright but saves you opening the trunk to put in your grocery bags. The worst part is when it happens if it's raining. The E60 trunk opens up fully whereas the E90 trunk only unlatches.I didnt mind cause every time it would happen I'd get a loaner car and drive the nuts off it,had my pick of available cars.

Since it's some sort of a glitch, maybe someone could open the door and push the start button and drive away with it, at that point.
