More kudos for BMW motors
BMW MOST SUCCESSFUL ENGINE MANUFACTURER
- V 10 M engine featured in the BMW M5/M6 voted "Engine of the Year" yet again - Engine in BMW M3 is class leader for the sixth time, and now powers the new Z4 M Roadster and Z4 M Coupe - 3.0-litre twin turbo diesel best diesel engine for second time Munich. Never before in the history of the "Engine of the Year Award" has the situation arisen whereby an engine was voted power unit of the year twice in succession. The V 10 high performance engine powering the BMW M5/M6 has now managed to achieve this remarkable feat and was voted "International Engine of the Year 2006" in Stuttgart by around 60 renowned trade journalists from all over the world. Moreover, it received the coveted award "Best Performance Engine 2006", and also took first place in the class exceeding 4 liters in capacity. However, BMW M engineers were able to win laurels not only for this high-revving, 500 hp five-liter engine. The 3.2-liter inline-six engine powering the BMW M3 with 333 hp and now also featured in the BMW Z4 M Roadster and Z4 M Coupe, again caused a sensation. It was winner in the class from three to four liters cubic capacity for the sixth time in a row. No engine has managed to do this in the history of these awards. But the list of engine successes does not end here. Also, the three-liter twin turbo diesel engine with 272 hp powering the BMW 535d took first place in the class from 2.5 to 3.0 liter cubic capacity, rendering it the only winning diesel engine in the competition. Second place was clinched by the new BMW 3-liter six-cylinder petrol engine used in almost all series and boasting either 258 or 265 hp, depending on the model. |

Although the N52 is a remarkable engine, expect much more from BMW as the years progress, with lots of electrically powered units that are currently powered from the engine's pulley system. Loads more efficiency to come from the standard petrol powered engine!
