FS: one of a kind [custom Intercooler] made by Turbo Hoses

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:

Item Interest
Hey all,

For sale is a one of a kind, hand built intercooler from the guys at Turbo Hoses. It was on the car for less than 200 miles and is now sitting in my garage ready to ship as the car is back to stock. The intercooler is much larger than anything you can buy on the market right now and I could definitely feel the difference in cooling efficiency and spool times with it installed and my tunes at the time. I payed $2000 + tax and waited more than 3 months to get it made.

For those that aren't familiar with Turbo Hoses, they're the premier fab shop in the greater Bay Area as well as the nations most highly respected Noble builder. They aren't simply a bolt on shop. They fab and weld some of the craziest and highest quality products I've seen. And I'm not exaggerating when I say my car was by far the least desirable car sitting in their shop.

I'm asking $1500 for the intercooler + shipping or $1500 picked up anywhere in the Bay Area. The intercooler has brackets so it'll mount directly on a BMW 335i, but be advised you'll have to make some adjustments to seat this monster.

Please PM me if you're interested.

Alex

HP gain is going to be dependent on your car's other mods and in all honesty, the intercooler's true function is to give you longer, more sustained peak power since it cools better. The better flow characteristics will also help with turbo spool, but as far as giving you more HP like downpipes it won't really do that. That's not to say an intercooler isn't a vital upgrade. If you're making close to 400whp or even a more moderate number but the air coming into your turbos gets too hot, meaning it's less dense, you simply can't mix the same amount of fuel you were before and your car isn't going to be operating at those numbers anymore. So if you're going for a spirited drive or racing around the track your car's times will only get slower and slower.

I don't have stock dimensions but I can measure the core of my intercooler when I get home. Compared to the size of the stock intercooler though, it basically fills any and all space it can. It sits right up against the radiator and wedges right between the two weather strips on the left and right.

Is bigger always bigger with IC's? I wonder if there are issues with time to pressure up an IC? Not sure. Anybody know?

what are you wheel and tire sizes, looks good.

I believe it will fit a stock bumper, but you're going to have to do a little modification behind the scenes to tuck it away.

True, too big of an intercooler can be bad, but this intercooler isn't so big as to be detrimental to spool times. Quite the opposite actually, the car felt a lot more responsive with it installed.

The wheels are m3 offset, 255 tires in the front and 315 tires in the back

I believe this one is larger. I don't have specific dimensions to tell you, but I'm pretty sure this is the case since you have to remove a bit of your shroud to install this baby.

It's been a really great time modding this car, but it's simply time to get into something else and spend my time and energy there. On a side note though, if I do decide to resume my car play I'll have a new base to work with
