About to place my order

hi Guys,

I joined the forum as im buying my first ever BMW...im placing my order on Sat. Just wanted some advice:

My order:

320D Msport Coupe
19" alloys
Black leather with brushed aluminium
Heated seats
Sun Protection Glass
Black Sapphire
Rear Spoiler

I spent 2 hours at the dealer on monday and i test drove the 320i Coupe and 320D. I was not impressed with the petrol, it felt a bit flat as I am used to cars with turbos. The diesel on the other hand was impressive. the 350NM torque at 1750RPM made all the difference.

Is there any other advice you guys can offer me/things i need to watch out for? any regrets...or investment in other extras?

I agree that if you want a smaller displacement engine, the best choice is the diesel, especially for a 1600kg car. If there was a 323d available (like the bi-turbo 123d) it was almost ideal...

Still, the new gasoline 2.0 liter with direct injection and 170hp is not bad at all.

Are you sure you want the 19" alloys ? Do they come standard for M Sport in UK ? I would skip them and get some other nice options with the money...because the wheels are about the only things you can easily change later.

Also, there is one more thing: only the 6-cylinder engines have the new 1-inch wider track at the rear which really improves the overall car design. But...only the 4-cylinder engines have the start-stop feature of Efficient Dynamics

I beg to differ. I have iPod, but it is mostly useless. If you get iDrive, you will get free USB upload support (via the connector in the glove compartment). You can then upload music from the iPod to the car's hard disk and then play it...so the iPod option is not really needed (...right ? Or not ?)

Personally, I would drop the 19" alloys as their only impact is visual and may actually comromise the ride slightly over the standard 18" rims. Then I would add the Visibility Package including Xenons, if they're not standard as BMW's regular headlights really cramp your style at night, especially on wet roads.

The standard speaker package with hard disc drive is surprisingly good. Very, very good in fact. If music is your thing while driving this is probably the best in-car stereo I've heard outside of custom installation that take up half the boot space. The fact that you can load over 250 CDs makes things really convenient

80gb, with 12gb reserved for music uploads, which means 250-300 CDs

Steve, sorry, just re-read your message.... standard spec shows that the car comes with:

Auxiliary input point for auxiliary playing devices (eg MP3 player)
BMW Professional radio with single CD player
Loudspeaker system with six speakers

Does this include a hardrive??

The Nav system was abit out of reach for me...im sure the HDD only comes with the NAV.
