Car is having a hard time starting up
I recently purchased a 09 E92 Coupe, and recently everyone morning before work, the car cranks for a long time before it starts up. I thought this was due to the cold weather, but I know many vehicles do not have this problem. Anyone help me out? I have a 6mt if that makes a difference. Thanks!!

previous years' models have had fuel pump failures. Looks like the 09's may still have a few bad batches.

Just do a search for fuel pump or HPFP. You'll see hundreds of occurrences.

Nope, they will change it annually and at the service indicator times. all others are on your dime. There is a great DIY section that covers doing them yourself, which might be handy.

Sounds like typical fuel pump problem. Just make sure you extend your warranty so you can keep replacing the fuel pump!

Before you get too paranoid, is it taking just a bit longer to start, or is it actually having a rough time starting? In the winter, it's normal to an extra second or so to start when the engine has been sitting. If your HPFP is going bad, it takes quite a bit longer to start up (read the older threads).

It cranks for about 3-4x before it actually starts, so i would say she's having a rough time. however, this doesn't happen every time though. any inputs? i'm guessing its still a failing fuel pump

I had that in the first two months of ownership. After that it stopped. I recently had my HPFP replaced for my first service at 8k miles (after 8 months of ownership)

Insane... Take it to the dealer and see if it is throwing the 2FBF code (or any other, the 2FBF one seems to be the "it took a long time to start" code). It's likely they'll do a pressure test and also likely it will pass, yet the pump will fail later on.
Good luck! You are not alone. Mine went at 2500 miles.

Because everyone's fuel pump fails. It's a known problem with the E9x's. Go to the dealer and tell them you have a long crank and you're worried about your High Pressure Fuel Pump. Then ask them if they've ever heard of anyone's High Pressure Fuel Pump failing. Be sure to allow at least 5 minutes for them to stop laughing.
