SSTT Turbo sound
I was wondering with the SSTT or jb2 can you hear the turbos spool better then stock? Stock you cant even really hear them, so i was wondering if raising the boost 3 psi or so would make a difference? Or can you hear the stock bov?? thanks!

I've spent lots of time in an SSTT-equipped car and it sounds exactly like a stock car. However it is quite a bit faster than a stock car.
We don't have blow-off valves. We have diverter valves, which rather than venting excess boost to atmosphere like a BOV, recirulate excess boost back into the intake tract. So they are quiet. |

O ok, I saw a couple videos on youtube and it sounds like you can hear the diverter valves. How about with an intake, then can you start to hear them spool?

Jeff, how happy are you with the SSTT? Not trying to thread jack, just like everyones opinion on this. Seems like there are too many tuner wars on this board. How is it off the line? Am more interested in acceleration off the line than top end speed. thanks

If you have an intake, you can hear the turbos spooling regardless of tune, hell I'm pretty sure you can even run it stock.. But if you want to hear your turbos spool, downpipes are the way to go, that or you can go with the less expensive diverter valves, but those are two different mods for two different needs...
btw, and of course the higher the tune the more your going to hear your turbos spooling because its running at a higher psi, causing them to spool faster. |

I am very happy with the SSTT! Brain-dead simple to install and remove, nice gains that you can definitely feel. Most of the gains seem to be at lower revs, say below 5000 or so. Very torque-y at mid revs, really pulls hard from 1500-4500 and then kind of drops off at the top end.
My car is steptronic and the only mod is the SSTT. If I cruise along gently in DS just to the point where it's going to shift into 3rd (maybe 20 mph or so), then mash the gas, it downshifts HARD and lights up the tires. Off the line from idle I have to say it's kind of mushy with the step unless you start out in M1. Or put it in DS, stand on the brake, rev to ~2000 rpm, release the brake, floor the gas at the same time, and retrieve your head from the back seat as soon as you regain your bearings. Usually if I start in M1, the car hits the automatic upshift to M2 before I can react and hit the paddle. |

I really love my SSTT, a little quicker off the line but the power between gear changes and in the higher RPM's is really where it shines...
