Ramps for oil changes

Looking for what the other DIYers out there do to get the car in the air for an oil change.

I bought a set of ramps from harbor freight today but the front bumper is too low and hits the ramp before the wheel has a chance to climb it.

I was trying to avoid jacking up the car and using jack stands since nobody is able to confirm where the front jacking point is, and ramps seem so much easier.

Thinking of either:
1. Jack up driver's side from side jack point high enough to slide ramp under driver's side wheel, repeat for passenger side. Both front wheels will now be on ramps. Opposite steps to get car off ramps.
2. Buy 8" wide x 2'-3' long pieces of wood to work as ramp extensions

Is anyone else in the same boat and have any pointers?

The only other suggestions I have seen is the jack stands that work with your jack, so you can use the same jack points for both jack and stand.

I wish there was more clarity around this for sure.

There are dimples that make a circle shape in the metal under where the front axle is, so I assume it's the jack point. I just don't want to experiment on my car.

I am in the same boat. Following the same threads for oil changing. I really want to try to jack up from that apparent front center jack point, but I too don't want anything to break. I have RhinoRamps which of course are too steep

I will check with the G20 folks, I'm assuming the underside will be almost identical since they are both based on the CLAR platform.

That's essentially the same as my idea 1 above, right? They are basically just the resting area of ramps, without the slanted part.

How do you get the car onto those?

I'm guessing the idea is you lift the car using one of the 4 jack points. Then throw this under the wheel and lower the car onto the crib. Negating the need for jack stands, but still need a jack. Only useful when not needing to remove the wheels

Race ramps has lower profile ramps, but not at all useful for doing any work under the car like oil changes

$500 for 2... the ramps are definitely cheaper, but at least with these you could take wheels off.

Way too expensive.

To take wheels off I just jack up the corner I want to remove. Granted, I can only remove one wheel at a time.

Until someone solves the front jack point mystery, I'm going to jack up each side of the front and slide a ramp under the wheels

I think it goes without saying a quickjack makes it super easy, but the goal is to not spend $1,000+, not even close to it. Not sure if that was said directly yet.

I use two floor jacks. One on each side of the car and raise them both incrementally high enough to slide my Rhino ramps underneath the wheels.

Works good enough to do oil changes

Here's my method. Drive front wheels onto 2x4 blocks to gain clearance for my jack, raise car from the center jack point, place jack stands on each side.

I used these $159. They had the correct angle, just wish the car was higher, I just barley managed to get under it, but it was just enough. If you are not thin, this won't work.

I may stick with my $45 harbor freights. Jacking it up is going to suck, but once I figure out an extension setup they will be awesome.

Change of plans, going to return the ramps and get HF's 3 ton jack stands with the flat surface for the pad adapters. Going to use the assumed front jacking point.

Think I might do the same. Mind reporting back if you do end up using the assumed jack point? So far it's seems at least 2 other members have used it with no problems
