BMW 220i COUPE FILLER CAP

Hi Guys, new here I have a 2022 220i coupe in brooklyn grey metallic. Spotted an issue with my car where the filler flap is protruding, took to my local bmw centre and they said it's normal for this model and within tolerance etc.

Wanted to just reach out to owners of the same model here and see if you have the same issue or amount of protrusion. I've attached an image to compare look at the bottom of the filler flap.

Thanks Christopher

Definitely not normal

Door should be flush with the body

Does the door lock when you push it in?

Thanks for the reply. Yes it locks without issue, top is flush bottom is not. Was told this is normal as compared with other cars of the same model on-site.

Thanks for this very helpful. They are having it back in the new year for a few days to investigate further and try and rectify. I used these posts to help with the images so thanks again.

I did notice tonight when putting fuel in, as slight gap between the plastic and the flap, was thinking it may just not have been “snapped” in correctly. I’ve attached an image..

Cheers again, Chris

That's likely the source of your problem.

Any update on this? Mine is isn’t quite flush along the bottom edge either. I took the painted fuel filler door off. Just stick a flathead screwdriver into the notch where the black plastic support frame is and slide the fuel filler door out. All the tabs (6 total) are locking in securely. The issue seems to be the shape of the plastic fuel filler door itself.

Hi Coconut, yeah it’s annoying. No update yet it’s going to the dealership on Monday, was postponed due to bad weather. I’ll let you know.

I do have another issue though unrelated, condensation on the inside of the drivers side headlamp… another annoying problem!

Hi coconut, they have taken the filler door off, and housing out and refitted, and it seems to look ok by the images they sent, but I’ll see in the flesh tomorrow when I pick it up.

Just to add they said adjustment of the black housing arm was causing most of the issue, the flap itself was in shape and ok.

Headlamp being changed for a new one, this is on lead time so not done yet.
