Dealer Said Time For a Standard Scope

So my car has been indicating it was due for some kind of maintenance for a few days - it briefly said "service" when starting up. I scrolled through the maintenance dates and couldn't find anything that was due, so I stopped by the dealer today. The guy popped my key in the reader and got this confused look and called another service writer over. They started mumbling about the car calling for a "standard scope." They asked if the engine light had been on and I lied because I didn't want them to take the car in with the tune installed. The light has been on a few times for misfires which I cleared myself. Anyway they seemed puzzled and agreed to clear it because we don't have emissions requirements here and the car wasn't indicating it had any noteworthy problems. My concern is whether this indicates something wrong they aren't familiar with, or its simply a fluke. Anyone heard of this?

It's an indication for the dealer to hook up the car to the diagnostic machine and read what service needs to be done. How many miles?

7100 miles on the car. The SA cleared the minder and said I would be due for an oil change in about 5K miles. I kind of laughed because I've already changed the oil twice.
