Boot fully opening and whole car unlocking by itself

Seen a few other posts like this on here however none of them are the same, owned my 2014 4 series for three months and never had any issues. For three days in a row I’ve went out to find my car with the boot wide open and the whole car unlocked. Keys have been untouched on a table in house and haven’t used the boot in a while.

Saw on a thread people saying it might be the kick to open boot picking up a false signal (not sure if my car even has that) however even if it was surely this wouldn’t unlock the whole car. Other people saying it might be from accidentally pressing the key which also isn’t a possibility.

I’ve just spoke on the phone to bmw hotline and they’ve said they can’t advise and the next available appointment for a diagnostics check is in 17 days time. So until then they just expect me to risk the boot getting flooded through the night and basically a guaranteed theft when it’s parked outside my work.

Anyone know what I can do in the meantime or had the exact same issue ?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Lewis.

Here a few of my thoughts, maybe the buttons on the remote are dirty and activating? I would inspect the fob and open it up to clean, and while you are in there replace the battery, it might be time to replace.

You can also try purchasing a Faraday bag for your fob and see if in fact it is the fob that is causing your issues.
I use one of these when the car is in front of my house. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

As a last resort, in the next two weeks, you can disconnect the battery and wrap the boot latch with a towel so you don't lock the vehicle, but that sounds like too much work and doesn't stop theft within the vehicle.

Trunk has a valet button in the glove box that you can use to prevent the trunk from opening

Pull the battery out of the key fob while storing and see if it still happens. How far away from the car is the key stored? Eliminate one variable at a time
