CBS - What's going on?

Hello everyone!

So, I have a 325i from September. It is brand new. I am overall, very happy with it.

The oil change indicator started at 15,000 KM and started going down until it reached 4500 KM. I had 3000 KM in car after 2 months, so I took it in for service.

Dealer oil changes, as we know, are extremely expensive (over 200USD here in MX). But heck, brand new, didn't want to mess it up.

After the change, they didn't reset the oil change indicator. I followed the procedure in this forum to do it myself (low risk). After the reset, the indicator showed 10,000KM. I have 7000 KMs now after a couple trips to the TX border.

The indicator says that I now have to change the oil again at 7000KM.

Two questions really...

This doesn't make sense!! Or does it?

How can I check the oil myself without going to the dealer?

Thanks for your help! These forums are an incredible resource.

PS. As many others, I love this car.
