Someone ate my hood sound insulation

No I am not joking. Hopefuly I can take some pics tomorrow in the day. Basically there is about 10 inch radius of the padding all chewed up just over the driver side strut tower. There is absolutely no sign of fire damage or anything mechanical that could have done it. Look like an animal just picked at it.

Anyone had something this ridiculous happen to them?

Evil woodland critters. They haven't developed a taste for the Bimmer, yet. They do keep trying to kill my wife. (By chewing through the gas hose for he grill 4 times.)

The hole was just above that empty space between the strut tower, engine and the power steering fluid reservoir. I see some signs of damage on an insulation just around the steering column as well. I am really really lucky the sucker didn't touch any wires or hoses.

I took the sound padding off, the car sounds nicer ... maybe will get a new one maybe won't we'll see.

I had a squirrel chew on my shark fin. Must of thought it was shark fin soup.

I recall a story a few years back about a guy with a Z8 that was stored and mice nested inside. They ate up a ton of the wiring in the car.

I wouldn't necesssarily be worried though as that car was sitting for a significant amount of time.

Mice do this. You are also likely to find food caches and nests. Get some mouse traps and bait them with PB.

Picturing that in my head makes that situation look absolutely ridiculous.

Don't mess around with the rodents, get some traps around ASAP. My old E36 got totaled by a mouse chewing through the main wire harness from the trunk and shorted out the whole thing, ECU and all.

Hmmm... does it look like this?

Take a look at my thread from September (more pics there): http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173082

So far, no more chewing since I replaced the pad. Thankfully.

Funny thing is that my M3 has been stationary since 2 months ago and it's fine, wife's car is fine as well. I think this problem occurred while my car was parked somewhere else. I have absolutely no signs of rodents around the house. My car has always been sitting outside which an unusual place for rodents to get to.

I hate squirrels...

I live in the city and we are inundated with the tree rat bastards.

Having a silenced .22 around makes a VERY handly tool for dealing with vermin. Ive killed literally over a hundred in the last 5-6 years

That does look like mice.

I told you - I loathe squirrels.

The damn things were EATING my deck. Thats what sent me over the edge.

The only bad thing is you have to use subsonic .22 aguila ammo and it wont cycle the action.
